[Verse 1: Wrabel & Kesha, Both]
The day I met you we got drunk in the backyard
With our friend Drew
I remember we had our first slumber party
We were both feelin' blue
A few months later, right before I went to rehab
You gave me my first tattoo
It was a hard time, a really fuckin' dark time
Thank God I found you

[Pre-Chorus: Wrabel & Kesha]
Oh, you build me up when I'm feelin' low, low, low
Since we met, I don't feel alone, 'lone, 'lone

[Chorus: Kesha & Wrabel]
I'm callin' up my best friend, can we just hang out tonight?
Neither of our boyfriends are even invited
When I'm with my best friend, I feel like myself again
Always make me laugh until I'm cryin'

[Post-Chorus: Kesha & Wrabel]
When you got a best friend, yeah, you can be yourself
When you got a best friend, you don't need nothing else

[Verse 2: Kesha & Wrabel, Both]
Do you remember when we drove out to the mountains
For that weird retreat?
It's kinda fuzzy 'cause we snuck out to get red wine
And I combed out your weave
Do you remember the night before the GRAMMYs?
I was losin' my shit
I knew you were nervous and I thought it'd make you laugh
So I sent you a bag of candy dicks

[Pre-Chorus: Kesha & Wrabel]
Oh, you build me up when I'm feelin' low, low, low
Since we met, I don't feel alone, 'lone, 'lone

[Chorus: Kesha & Wrabel]
I'm callin' up my best friend, can we just hang out tonight?
Neither of our boyfriends are even invited
'Cause when I'm with my best friend, I feel like myself again
Always make me laugh until I'm cryin'

[Post-Chorus: Kesha & Wrabel]
When you got a best friend, yeah, you can be yourself
When you got a best friend, you don't need nothing else

[Bridge: Wrabel & Kesha]
Five years later and we're still right here together
With our friend, Stu
It's five years later and it keeps on gettin' better
My mom's here too

[Chorus: Kesha & Wrabel]
I'm callin' up my best friend, can we just hang out tonight?
Neither of our boyfriends are even invited
'Cause when I'm with my best friend, I feel like myself again
Always make me laugh until I'm cryin'

[Post-Chorus: Kesha & Wrabel]
When you got a best friend (You're my best friend, you're my best friend)
Yeah, you can be yourself (You're my best friend, it's true)
When you got a best friend (You're my best friend, you're my best friend)
You don't need nothing else (You're my best friend, it's you)
When you got a best friend (You're my best friend, you're my best friend)
Yeah, you can be yourself (You're my best friend, it's true)
When you got a best friend (You're my best friend, you're my best friend)
You don't need nothing else (You're my best friend, it's you)

Kesha

Kesha Rose Sebert, whose mononymous stage name was previously spelled Ke$ha, is an American singer-songwriter best known for hits like “Tik Tok” and “Praying.” Her mother, Pebe Sebert is also a songwriter, and the two have worked together on songs like “Learn to Let Go.”

In 2005, at age eighteen, Kesha signed a record deal with Dr. Luke’s Kemosabe Records. Her first major recording was an uncredited feature on Flo Rida’s 2009 hit “Right ‘Round,” which she recorded after walking into a session between Flo and Dr. Luke. She released her debut album, Animal, the next year, after choosing from hundreds of songs, and the record debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Lead single “Tik Tok” broke the record for the longest time for a female artist’s debut single to top the Billboard Hot 100.

Nine months after Animal dropped, Kesha rereleased it alongside Cannibal, an extended play featuring hits like “We R Who We R,” which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and “Blow.” In February 2011, Kesha kicked off her Get Sleazy Tour, which travelled through the Americas, Europe, and Australia. During the tour, she began writing for her sophomore album, Warrior, which was released in November 2012. She then embarked on a world tour, and was joined by future “Timber” collaborator Pitbull on the North American leg.
