[Intro]
The time has come to realize
What you are, what you've done inside
The time has come
All have something to talk about, I will too

[Verse 1]
Looking back (dumb)
And now I realize (old man)
How much you really liked him (dumb)
This child's mind you terrorized (old man)
You came to him (dumb)
He really didn't know your lies (old man)
Now his innocence's gone (dumb)
He's that child you terrorized (old man)

[Chorus]
This fucking thing that I feel
It came to me from you
This fucking thing that I
Because of you
My childhood is gone
Because I loved you
My childhood is gone
Because I loved you
Be my neighbor!

[Verse 2]
Looking back (child)
And now I realize (fucker)
How much you really loved him (child)
This child's mind you've hypnotized (fucker)
You came to him (child)
He really didn't know your lies (fucker)
Now his innocence's gone (child)
I'm that child you terrorized (fucker)

[Chorus]
This fucking thing that I feel
It came to me from you
This fucking thing that I feel
Because of you
My childhood is gone
Because I loved you
My childhood is gone
Because I loved you
Be my neighbor!
Be my neighbor!
My neighbor

[Verse 3]
Fred, you told me everybody was my neighbor
They took advantage of me
You let them take their turns hitting me
I wish I would have never watched you
You really made my childhood a failure
What a fucking neighbor
Fred, you told me everybody was my neighbor
They took advantage of me
You let them take their turns hitting me
I wish I would have never watched you
You really made my childhood a failure
What a fucking neighbor!
I hate you!
I will too
I hate you!
I will too
I hate you!
I will too
I hate you!
I hate you!

[Outro]
Be my neighbor!
Be my neighbor!
This fucking thing that I feel!
This fucking thing that I feel!
My childhood is gone!
My childhood is gone!
This fucking thing that I feel!
This fucking thing that I feel!
My childhood is gone!
My childhood is gone!
I will too
I will too
I will too
I will too
I will too
I will too
I will too
I will too
I will too
I will too

Bakersfield friends James “Munky” Shaffer, Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu and David Silveria formed the funk-rock band LAPD in 1989 and moved to Los Angeles with another friend Brian “Head” Welch as their roadie. Later, with Welch as second guitarist, the band named themselves Creep and recorded a demo with pal Ross Robinson.

However, when Shaffer and Welch visited family in Bakersfield, they met Jonathan Davis who added a darker, goth-tinged edge to the band’s heavy groove. Robinson

The band wasn’t dark yet; it had, like, killer grooves and good riffs, but there was some happy edge to it. And when (Davis) walked into the room, it went dark and goth. Basically, during the first song, to audition in the rehearsal room, he started freaking the hell out [laughs]. You couldn’t hear his voice, but you felt chills all over your body, and it was instantly like, “Oh my God, yeah – he’s the one.”
