[LINCOLN]
My fire escape is the only place where I feel safe
I’m miles away from the human race
And I can say whatever I need to say
But on this page, you can read my songs to you
My heart belongs to you
Songs I can’t play cuz I know I’m wrong for you
So I’ll stay strong and keep these feelings to myself

My secret love, I need you so
My secret love, you’ll never know

Out on the street, there’s a million wrongs that can’t be righted
Here I’m free, to write so many songs of unrequited love
And I’m complete, as I see you there below me, smiling up as if you know me
With you at my feet, there’s a sadness in your eyes
And all these lies I’m keeping to myself

My secret love, I can’t pretend
My secret love, you’re my best friend

And every man has a secret that he hides
And every man has a longing that he fights
My love, you keep me awake so many sleepless nights
You are the reason I write on a fire escape
