[Verse 1]
Life has a way of making you live it
Sometimes it takes when you be giving it
Do you fold or do you play on?
The next move always depends on you
If your work is good then it's trouble at home
If your move is right then your dough is tight
It's like running an engine on no fuel
How do you play in a game with no rules?

[Pre-Chorus]
(It's always a fight)
A constant battle in my mind
(No place to run, nowhere to hide)
I gotta keep moving on, I gotta at least try
(Dealing with the pressures of everyday life)
Gotta go the extra mile, can't just throw in the towel
You would be so amazed at the amount of things that I can take

[Chorus]
I got troubles with in, troubles with out
Making it through but tryin' to figure it out
Tryin' to stay right when the world is wrong (So wrong)
But I gotta keep moving and press on (Pressin' on)
Gotta stay real, tryin' to be strong
Takin' the blows but gotta hold on
Tryin' to stay right but the world is so wrong
But I gotta keep moving and press on, press on

[Verse 2]
It's such a shame the more that you give
The more that you have to wait
For some one to appreciate all the moves you make
All the chances you gotta take
The way to get ahead is have the fear in your eyes
The only way to get by is for you never let 'em see you sweat
You sure better not let 'em see you cry

[Pre-Chorus]
(It's always a fight)
Ooh ooh, a constant battle in my mind
(No place to run, nowhere to hide)
I gotta keep moving on, I gotta at least try
(Dealing with the pressures of everyday life)
Gotta go the extra mile, can't just throw in the towel
You would be so amazed at the amount of things that I can take

[Chorus]
I got troubles with in, troubles with out
Making it through but tryin' to figure it out
Tryin' to stay right when the world is wrong
(Trying to stay right)
But I gotta keep moving and press on (Pressin' on)
Gotta stay real, tryin' to be strong
Takin' the blows but gotta hold on (And I hurt so bad)
Tryin' to stay right but the world is so wrong
But I gotta keep moving and press on, press on

[Bridge]
Every day it's something new to face
Every night praying that I'll survive
Oh, oh, oo
Tryin' to deal with the pressure
Every time I try to get ahead
Every mistake I make they try to do me in
Whoa oh oh
How much more?

[Pre-Chorus]
(It's always a fight)
A constant battle in my mind
(No place to run, nowhere to hide)
I gotta keep moving on, I gotta at least try
(Dealing with the pressures of everyday life)
Gotta go the extra mile, can't just throw in the towel
You would be so amazed at the amount of things that I can take

[Chorus]
I got troubles with in, troubles with out
Making it through but tryin' to figure it out
Tryin' to stay right when the world is wrong (So wrong)
But I gotta keep moving and press on (Pressin' on)
Gotta stay real, tryin' to be strong
Takin' the blows but gotta hold on
Tryin' to stay right but the world is so wrong
But I gotta keep moving and press on, press on

Mary J. Blige

Mary Jane Blige (b. Jan 11 1971) grew up in the projects of Yonkers, New York. A random decision to record a cover of “Caught Up in the Rapture” by Anita Baker in a pop-up recording booth at a mall led MJB to getting signed by Uptown Entertainment. After providing background vocals on Father MC’s hit single “I’ll Do 4 U” in 1990, a young intern at Uptown named Sean “Puffy” Combs ended up executive producing Mary’s 1992 debut album What’s The 411?. Fusing hip-hop beats with Mary’s soulful voice earned her the nickname “Queen of Hip-Hop Soul”.

She followed up her debut with a string of critically acclaimed albums, including 1994’s My Life and 1997’s Share My World, as well as hit singles such as “Not Gon' Cry,” “Family Affair,” “Be Without You,” and “Just Fine.”

She also collaborated with rappers on a number of tracks, including Jay-Z’s “Can’t Knock the Hustle,” Ghostface Killah’s “All That I Got is You,” Wyclef’s “911,” Common’s “Come Close,” and Method Man’s “I’ll Be There for You/All I Need to Get By,” which was a platinum hit and won the two of them a Grammy Award in 1996 for Best Rap Performance By a Duo or Group.
