[Verse 1]
Your mind tells you that you've lost your confidence
You're drifting and you don't believe in anyone
To lose what little you have left to be proud of
Afraid you can't do this again

[Verse 2]
You said that nothing come in-between us
The way of getting things we wanted done
Then enissophobia held you under its influence
Until you compromised your style

[Instrumental Break]

[Verse 3]
Everything about you has been one big charade
What will you do now the wells run dry? (Cry?)
To sell out all your friends and stab them in the back

[Refrain]
It's something that you are
It's something that I'm not

[Verse 4]
When you forcеd me into doing what you love
Mark my words no one lovеs you very much (Yeah mark 'em)
And when you tried to change me and tried to replace me
I couldn't help but end just hating you

[Verse 5]
Being a fraud can only last so long (You should know)
Until what you sensed as a child returns (You little baby)
To choke out the voice that told you "money and the fame"
Would fill the crater that you dug for yourself

[Verse 6]
Unlike you I'm no vision to myself, lest you forget
You didn't ever make metal, buddy, metal made you
To crush and run over everyone along the way

[Refrain]
It's something that you are
It's something that I'm not

[Verse 7]
A stranger to yourself, ha! You pissed me off again
I won't be driven by your needs anymore
What you'd become to do or be is clear to see for me

[Refrain]
It's something that you are
Something that I'm not

[Instrumental Break]

[Verse 8]
It makes me sick to hear you say you "love me"
I know you only love what I can do for you
If you were the one that was leading the charge
Would you notice if I missed a day or two? (But that's impossible!)

[Verse 9]
We all laughed at the parodies that you'd become
Now your pain slowly paid back has begun
So, accept my resignation, or in your words "betrayal"
Before it gets much worse, end this self-sabotage

[Instrumental Break]

[Bridge]
Something I'm not, something that you are
Something I'm not

[Instrumental Break]

[Outro]
Something I'm not, something that you are
Something I'm not, something that you are
Something that I'm not... Yet

Megadeth

After being kicked out of Metallica, Dave Mustaine decided to form a Thrash Metal band that not only rivaled his former band, but played faster, more technical Metal. Along with bassist David ‘Junior’ Ellefson and a revolving door of guitarists and drummers, Mustaine set the world afire as Megadeth became known as the world’s state-of-the-art Speed Metal band throughout the 80s and the early 90s. One of the Big Four of Thrash Metal, Megadeth remains one of Metal’s most popular acts today.

However, Dave Mustaine’s fledgling band got off to a shaky start. Initially unable to find like-minded individuals, it was not until an altercation with his (underage) downstairs neighbours Dave Ellefson and Greg Handevidt, that led to him buying them beer and forming the first incarnation of the band with drummer Dijon Carruthers in 1983.

The band was named after a political pamphlet that referred to a “megadeath” (one million deaths by nuclear explosion):
