[Intro]
(Insomni-omni-omni-omni-omnia)

[Verse 1]
I'm running in quicksand
Something's haunting me
The guilty past I've buried
My mind won't let me sleep
I'll do anything for peace (I keep waking up)
A solemn oath I make
Cross my heart, please let me sleep (I keep waking up)
How much more do I take?

[Pre-Chorus 1]
My head is talking to me
I don't know what it needs
But the loudest voice
Is the one I heed

[Chorus]
(Insomni-omni-omni-omni-omnia)
My swollen bloodshot eyes
(Insomni-omni-omni-omni-omnia)
Awake 'til morning light
(Insomni-omni-omni-omni-omnia)
Stirring deep inside
Insomni-omni-omni-omnia
Somebody, turn out the lights

[Post-Chorus]
I, I, I can't sleep
I, I - insomnia

[Verse 2]
I'm twisting and turning (I keep waking up)
The madness I must tame
My candle is burning (I keep waking up)
Both ends again today

[Pre-Chorus 2]
The whole house is creaking
I know they're out there
The things kept from sight
I beg to the shadows, I can't sleep

[Chorus]
(Insomni-omni-omni-omni-omnia)
Footsteps on the walk
(Insomni-omni-omni-omni-omnia)
I hear someone knock
(Insomni-omni-omni-omni-omnia)
I wish it was a dream
Insomni-omni-omni-omni-omnia
Can you hear me scream?

[Instrumental Break]

[Bridge]
I can't sleep!

[Chorus]
(Insomni-omni-omni-omni-omnia)
My swollen bloodshot eyes
(Insomni-omni-omni-omni-omnia)
Awake 'til morning light, ooh
(Insomni-omni-omni-omni-omnia)
Stirring deep inside
Insomni-omni-omni-omnia
Somebody, turn out the lights

[Outro]
(I keep waking up)
Insomnia, insomnia
Insomnia, insomnia
I, I, I, - insomnia
I can't sleep
(I keep waking up)
Insomnia
I, I can't sleep
I, I can't sleep
(I keep waking up)
Insomnia
I, I can't sleep
(Insomni-omni-omni-omni-omnia)
I can't sleep
I can't sleep
I can't sleep
(Insomni-omni-omni-omni-omnia...)

Megadeth

After being kicked out of Metallica, Dave Mustaine decided to form a Thrash Metal band that not only rivaled his former band, but played faster, more technical Metal. Along with bassist David ‘Junior’ Ellefson and a revolving door of guitarists and drummers, Mustaine set the world afire as Megadeth became known as the world’s state-of-the-art Speed Metal band throughout the 80s and the early 90s. One of the Big Four of Thrash Metal, Megadeth remains one of Metal’s most popular acts today.

However, Dave Mustaine’s fledgling band got off to a shaky start. Initially unable to find like-minded individuals, it was not until an altercation with his (underage) downstairs neighbours Dave Ellefson and Greg Handevidt, that led to him buying them beer and forming the first incarnation of the band with drummer Dijon Carruthers in 1983.

The band was named after a political pamphlet that referred to a “megadeath” (one million deaths by nuclear explosion):
