[Intro]
Yeah, yeah
I wanna be, wanna be, wanna be, wanna be, yeah

[Verse 1]
I'm free, I can be me
You can do you, any way you please
Oh no, it's nothin' to lose
Used to be blind but now I see
The colors change, winters by the rain
And though it hurts to say

[Chorus]
I don't wanna be your loverboy
If you don't understand me
I don't wanna be your second choice
Your tomorrow or your plan B
I don't wanna be your loverboy
If you don't understand me
'Cause I can't sit and wait
To be your 'nother next thing

[Post-Chorus]
Oh-oh, oh, oh-oh, oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh
I ain't gonna be the next thing
Oh-oh, oh, oh-oh, oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh
I ain't gonna be the next thing
Oh-oh, oh, oh-oh, oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh
I ain't gonna be the next thing, yеah, ayy
Oh-oh, oh, oh-oh, oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh

[Verse 2]
Oh me, oh me, oh my
I'm feeling like a brand nеw sky (Sky)
I try, you lie, you hide
I fly, you stay always asking why (Why, why, why?)
You never call me
'Cause I switched up like my old jeans
Got the windows down, doin' forty
And I'm doin' better than the old me
Yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah
And I'm doin' better than the old me
Yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah

[Chorus]
I don't wanna be your loverboy (Loverboy)
If you don't understand me
I don't wanna be your second choice (Second choice)
Your tomorrow or your plan B
I don't wanna be your loverboy (Loverboy)
If you don't understand me
'Cause I can't sit and wait (No, I can't)
To be your 'nother next thing

[Post-Chorus]
Oh-oh, oh, oh-oh, oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh
I ain't gonna be the next thing, yeah, yeah
Oh-oh, oh, oh-oh, oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh
I ain't gonna be the next thing, yeah, yeah
Oh-oh, oh, oh-oh, oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh
I ain't gonna be the next thing, yeah, ayy
Oh-oh, oh, oh-oh, oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh

Surfaces

Formed in 2017, Surfaces is a Texas-based duo made up of Forrest. and Colin Padalecki, making upbeat, feel-good pop influenced by ‘70s R&B, electronica, and hip-hop.

After working with his cousin in high school, Padalecki continued working on tracks while attending Texas A&M University, where he began posting songs online, which caught the attention of Forrest. In December 2017, Surfaces released their debut album, Surf, which included the song “Be Alright.”

The track gained fans online and helped build buzz for the duo, who eventually found themselves touring in support of the album. In 2019, they issued their sophomore LP, Where the Light Is, which included “Sunday Best,” catapulting the duo into the spotlight. Surfaces returned with their third album, Horizons, in 2020.
