Baby, baby, don't you hurt me
Don't you say you've got to go
Don't you threaten to desert me
Is it something I should know
First you tell me it's the real thing
Then you say you just don't know

Never give your heart to a runaway
(No, no, no)
Never tell yourself that you'll make them stay
Put away your heart for another day
(No, no, no)
Never give your heart to a runaway

All the heartache that we've been through
That means nothing to you now
You can't come up with a reason
Can't explain it anyhow
Only leave me with a meaning
I'm not asking for your vow

So nice
(So nice)
So fine
(So fine)
One day gonna make you mine
Some day
(Some day)
Could be
You'll know what you mean to me

Never give your heart to a runaway
(No, no, no)
There's nothing you can do that will make them stay
Stop them moving on, on another day
(No, no, no)
Never give your heart to a runaway

Save a little love
Save a little love
Save a little love
(For a rainy day)
Save a little love

So nice
(So nice)
So fine
(So fine)
One day maybe make you mine
(Maybe make you mine)
Someday
(Someday)
We'll see
(We'll see)
You'll know what you mean to me

Never give your heart to a runaway
(To a runaway)
Passing like a kiss on a holiday
(On a holiday)
Save a little love for another day
(For a rainy day)
Never give your heart to a runaway
(Never to a runaway)

Never give your heart to a runaway
(To a runaway)
There's nothing you can do that will make them stay
(You can't make them stay)
Stop them moving on, on another day
(On another day)
Never give your heart to a runaway
(Never, never, never give your heart away)

Never give your heart to a runaway
(To a runaway)
Never tell yourself that you'll make them stay
(You can never make them stay)
Put away your heart for another day
(For a rainy day)
Never give your heart to a runaway
(Never, never, never)

The Human League

The Human League are a synth pop band from Sheffield, England, formed in 1977. They generated a string of synthesizer-backed dance pop hits throughout the 80s. David Bowie dubbed the group “the sound of the future” in 1981.

The band is best known for its third studio album released in 1981, Dare! The fourth single from Dare, “Don’t You Want Me,” catapulted to #1 in the UK and US.

Phil Oakey is the only core member of the group. The band’s first incarnation was as an arty all-male synthesizer group, composed of Oakey, Martyn Ware, and Ian Craig Marsh. In the 1980s, Ware and Marsh left the group after continued conflicts with Oakey—they went on to form Heaven 17.
