[Intro]
When I wake up, I'm afraid
Somebody else might take my place
When I wake up, I'm afraid
Somebody else might take my

[Verse 1]
Make that money, fake that dummy, ache my tummy
I'm on the fence, all the time, oh no, no
Paid junk honey, face so sunny, ain't that funny?
All my friends always lie to me, I know they're thinking

[Pre-Chorus]
You're too mean, I don't like you
So fuck you, anyway
You make me want to scream at the top of my lungs
It hurts but, I won't fight you
'Cause you suck, anyway
You make me want to die, right when I

[Chorus]
When I wake up, I'm afraid
Somebody else might take my place
When I wake up, I'm afraid
Somebody else might take my place
When I wake up, I'm afraid
Somebody else might take my place
When I wake up, I'm afraid
Somebody else might end up being me, oh

[Verse 2]
Mhmm
Keep on dreaming, don't stop breathing, fight those demons
You should sell your soul, not your whole self
Uh, if they see it when you're sleeping, make them leave it
'Cause I can't even see if it's up there, anymore
So

[Pre-Chorus]
You're too mean and I don't like you
So fuck you, anyway
You make me want to scream, uh, at the top of my lungs
And it hurts but, I won't fight you
'Cause you suck, anyway
You make me want to die, right when I

[Chorus]
When I wake up, I'm afraid
Somebody else might take my place
When I wake up, I'm afraid
Somebody else might take my place
When I wake up, I'm afraid
Somebody else might take my place
When I wake up, I'm afraid
Somebody else might end up being me, oh

[Verse 3]
Being me only means feeling scared to breathe
If you leave me, then I'll be afraid of everything
That makes me anxious, gives me patience, calms me down, lets me face this, lets me sleep
And when I wake up, ohh, let me be

[Chorus]
When I wake up, I'm afraid
Somebody else might take my place
When I wake up, I'm afraid
Somebody else might take my place
When I wake up, oh, I'm afraid
Somebody else might take my place
When, wake up, I'm afraid
Somebody else might end up, oh no, oh yeah

[Outro]
Oooh, ooh, woahh, woah
Mhm, woah, woahh, woahh-oh, oh!
I'm afraid of you, I'm afraid of me
I'm afraid to die, I'm afraid of everything

The Neighbourhood

Hailing from Newbury Park, California, upstart indie band The Neighbourhood finds its influences as diverse as hip-hop (where lead vocalist Jesse Rutherford had his musical beginnings) and the classic black and white aesthetic that often dominates their music videos and outfits. The current members are Jesse, Jeremy Freedman and Zach Abels (guitarists), Mikey Margott (bassist), and Brandon Fried (drummer). The Neighbourhood is often abbreviated to “The NBHD.” The band are easily recognisable by their signature upside-down house logo, which is tattooed on every band member.

With the release of the extended plays Thank You, and I’m Sorry…, the band accumulated a wide range of fandom appreciation.

Following the rising success of their hit single “Sweater Weather,” the band released their debut album in 2013 entitled I Love You. to a far wider popularity than that which preceded them. The band have also gained traction over the years by touring with artists like Travis Scott, Danny Brown, Imagine Dragons and Charli XCX.
