[Intro]
What happens when life breaks down?
When there is systemic contradiction?
It's projecting self justify excusing, accusing
Denying, well, I don't have a problem
There's nothing wrong with me
So it's not me, it must be you
Or it must be them, or it must be it
Trouble doesn't come from nowhere
Your weakness is a perfect match

[Verse 1]
Tryna live my life workin for a cause
Chasing my ambitions givin it my all
How you supposed to lift your own feet off the ground
When the whole damn world still tryin' to bring you down
(Tryin' to bring you down, tryin' to bring you down)
The whole damn world still tryin' to bring you down
(Tryin' to bring you down, tryin' to bring you down)
Ohh, ohh, ohh, ohh...

[Verse 2]
And I dance to my own beat loving being me
Broke out the mold - typical society
I'm on a mission just you wait and see
Fuck what you told me, I'm loving livin' free
(Loving livin' free, loving livin' free)
I said fuck what you told me, I'm loving livin' free
(Loving livin' free, loving livin' free)
Ohh, ohh, ohh, ohh...

[Bridge]
Yeah, I swear there's something out here
Tryna take a hold of me
And fucking drag me down, cuff and chain my feet
Just cause I run this town, baby
Just prepare cause I'm about to get the whole world on their feet
No matter what you do, I'm not afraid of you
My soul belongs to me, ohhh...

[Outro]
Fear not, I got you, always
Fear not, my love
Fear not, my love, I got you
Fear not, uh, I got you...

Tinashe

Tinashe Jorgenson Kachingwe, known mononymously as Tinashe, is an American singer-songwriter, actress, dancer, and former model born in Lexington, Kentucky and raised in Los Angeles, California.

Born on February 6, 1993, her rise to fame began with her acting on shows such as Two and a Half Men. Initially making her debut in the music industry via the short-lived girl group The Stunners—which also featured Hayley Kiyoko—she garnered attention from online music blogs with her 2012 mixtape, In Case We Die. Signing with RCA Records shortly after, she released two further mixtapes later that year and in 2013: Reverie and Black Water respectively. “2 On” was released in January 2014 as the lead single from her debut album, Aquarius, and remains her biggest solo single to date. Released in October that year, the album was praised by critics for its merging of old-school R&B sounds and fresh 2010s trends. The follow-up was subjected to much-criticised although “Player” was billed as the collection’s lead single as early as October 2015, songs released from the project failed to reach the label’s expectations, resulting in the release of an album’s worth of outtakes from the album, Nightride, in November 2016. Joyride was finally released on April 13: it features the singles “No Drama”, “Faded Love” and “Me So Bad”.

On February 18, 2019, Tinashe parted ways with her longtime record label RCA. By November that year, she inked a new management deal with Roc Nation and self-released Songs for You, her fourth studio album.
