[Verse 1: Kevon Edmonds]
(The day I fell in)
The day I fell in love with you
(Was a day that I knew my)
The day I knew my life began
(The day that I break up)
And the day that I break up with you
(Will be the day that I know my)
Will be the day I know my life will end

You and I belong together
It gets hard, but yes it gets better
I'm not gon' give up on you
So don't you dare give up on me
Girl, please tell me how

[Chorus]
I know that this ain't how our story ends
(This ain't how it ends, no)
I know that we ain't runnin' out of love
(We're not runnin' out of love)
And if you think it girl, you gotta think again
(You gotta, you gotta think again, baby)
'Cause baby we ain't even close to done
We're not out of love

[Verse 2]
(I hear the whispers)
I hear the whispers from your friends
(They say we ain't got no)
They say that we ain't got no chance
(They say that you need to)
They say you need to leave your man
(Well, ain't no way that’s)
Well, ain't no way that's happening

Ooh girl, you and I belong together
It gets hard, but yes it gets better
I'm not gon' give up on you
So don't you dare give up on me
Girl, please tell me how

[Chorus]
I know that this ain't how our story ends
(How...how it ends)
I know that we ain't runnin' out of love
(We can’t be runnin' out of love)
And if you think it girl, you gotta think again
(You gotta, you gotta think again, baby)
'Cause baby we ain't even close to done
We're not out of love

[Bridge]
Even if it takes all of eternity
(If it takes eternity, baby)
I know in the end you're supposed to be with me
(You're supposed to be right here with me)

Hear me now, ain't no doubt
Promise you that we're not out
I'm not gon' give up on you
So don't you dare give up on me, girl
Please, don’t give up on me, girl

[Chorus]
I know that this ain't how our story ends
(Tell me, baby)
I know that we ain’t runnin' out of love
(Tell me, baby; tell me, girl; tell me, baby; tell me again)
And if you think it girl, then think again
(We gotta think one more time, baby)
'Cause baby we ain't even close to done
We're not out of love

I know that this ain't how our story ends
I know that we ain’t runnin' out of love
We're not runnin' out of love
And if you think it girl, you gotta think again
'Cause baby we ain't even close to done
We’re not out of love

After 7

After 7 is a group originating from Indianapolis, Indiana, and consists of brothers Melvin Edmonds and Kevon Edmonds along with their friend Keith Mitchell. The group came together in 1987 after Melvin and Kevon’s brother, superstar singer/songwriter/producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds brought them out to Los Angeles as he was starting to move up in the music business. Babyface, along with his partner L.A. Reid, wrote and produced 7 out of 9 songs on After 7’s platinum self-titled debut album released in 1989. L.A. & ‘Face produced the album’s three singles — the Top 20 pop hit “Heat of the Moment” as well as the #1 R&B hits “Ready or Not” and “Can’t Stop,” which were both Top 10 pop hits. They followed this album with another popular song, their 1991 Top 10 R&B single “Nights Like This” from the movie The Five Heartbeats.

L.A. & Face weren’t as involved in their next two albums — 1992’s Takin' My Time and 1995’s Reflections — but these albums still went Gold thanks to their respective Top 5 R&B hit singles “Baby, I’m For Real/Natural High” and “‘Til You Do Me Right.”

The group disbanded in 1997 after issues with their label Virgin Records and Kevon Edmonds went on to release his solo album 24/7 in 1999. As discussions to reconvene took place, Melvin Edmonds decided not to tour with the group, so his son Jason Edmonds took his spot. The four of them came together to create their 2016 album Timeless, which featured production from Babyface and his longtime musical partner Daryl Simmons.
