[Verse 1]
I could've had the big door prize
I could've had it all
If I'd have taken it by the reins
If I'd have run with the ball
I didn't do it for the glory or the money, that's for sure
I got lost in the thick of it all
And there ain't no cure
And when the top of that mountain was there in my sights
My name up there blazing in bright neon lights

[Chorus]
I should have stuck to my guns
Instead of sticking to yours
I should have never cut and run
I should have followed that cause
My guns aren't loaded, they don't fight wars and revolutions
Hear me, stay near me and care for me

[Verse 2]
I guess it's just the way things go
It was never meant to be
Just a way of letting me know, it's all down to me
I never asked you for the whole world
I only took what I deserved
I maybe lost my heart somewhere
I maybe lost my nerve
I'm late in arriving, I missed that gravy train
When I should have been driving
I turned my head away

[Chorus]
I should have stuck to my guns (Stuck to my guns)
Instead of sticking to yours
I should have never cut and run (Never cut and run)
I should have followed that cause
My guns aren't loaded, they don't fight wars and revolutions
Hear me, stay near me and care for me
I should have stuck to my guns (Stuck to my guns)
Instead of sticking to yours (Instead of sticking to yours)
I should have never cut and run (Never cut and run)
I should have followed that cause
I should have stuck to my guns (Stuck to my guns)
Instead of sticking to yours
I should have never cut and run (Never cut and run)
I should have followed that cause
I should have stuck to my guns

Bonnie Tyler

Bonnie Tyler (born Gaynor Hopkins) was born on June 8, 1951 in Skewen, Wales. She was one of the most famous singers in the 80’s and is known for her noticeably rough and husky vocals.

Her first single, charting at #9 in her home country, “Lost In France,” put her in the public eye. After a bit of silence throughout the late 70s and early 80s, her best-selling and best-performing single on the charts of all time, “Total Eclipse of The Heart,” was released. Her 5th album, Faster Than The Speed of Night, also topped the charts in a few countries possibly because it contained Total Eclipse. Another notable song, “Holding Out for a Hero,” was released one year later for the Footloose soundtrack.

Tyler married Robert Sullivan, an Olympic judo contestant in 1973. They have no children. As of 2018, she is 66 years old and still in good health.
