[Verse 1]
We were banging on the doors of heaven before
But we didn't have a chance in hell
Still I tried to save it
My soul hit the floor, and it hurt to the core
And I didn't have anybody to tell
Didn't want to face it

[Pre-Chorus]
You cut me deep
It hurt to feel
It's taken time
But wounds they heal

[Chorus]
Now you're just a scar, a story I tell
Such an ugly mark, but I wear it so well
Like, oh well, oh well
Now you're just a scar
A time that I fell for someone who didn't love me well
Like, oh well, oh well

[Verse 2]
There used to be a time I couldn't sleep at night
No, I couldn't dry my eyes
Now I'm done crying
There used to be a time you took all my light
Like nothing was left to find
Now my lights are blinding

[Pre-Chorus]
You cut me deep
It hurt to feel
It's taken time
But wounds they heal

[Chorus]
Now you're just a scar, a story I tell
Such an ugly mark, but I wear it so well
Like, oh well, oh well
Now you're just a scar
A time that I fell for someone who didn't love me well
Like, oh well, oh well

[Breakdown]
Now you're just a scar, a story I tell
Such an ugly mark, I wear it so well
Now you're just a scar, a time that I fell
For someone who didn't love me
Someone who didn't love me

[Chorus]
Now you're just a scar, a story I tell
Such an ugly mark, but I wear it so well
Like, oh well, oh well
Now you're just a scar
A time that I fell for someone who didn't love me well
Like, oh well, oh well

[Outro]
Now you're just a scar, a story I tell
Such an ugly mark, I wear it so well

Foxes

Louisa Rose Allen, known professionally as Foxes, is a singer-songwriter from Southampton, United Kingdom.

Allen moved to London at the age of 18 before enrolling in and subsequently leaving a music theory-focused course. This allowed her to spend more time crafting the songs that would ultimately be released as singles on the transatlantic indie label Neon Gold and the Sony imprint Sign of the Times. A careful and slow-burning promotional campaign saw her music featured in the U.S. teen drama Gossip Girl, while Allen gradually came to be touted in an increasing number of blogs during 2012. Despite having performed relatively few gigs up until that point, in October 2012 she toured in support of labelmate MARINA. Early the following year, the Andy C remix of “Right Here” – her collaboration with U.K. drum'n'bass act Rudimental – crept into the U.K. Top 75 singles chart.

Graduating from single tracks to EP releases, Foxes issued the Warrior EP in late 2012, which spawned the well-circulated hit “Youth.” “Youth” was remixed enough to warrant a remix collection, and the song was also licensed for television and various other promotions. Allen worked off of the success she’d been building toward the completion of her debut full-length, Glorious. Released in May 2014, following the Top Ten placement of its second single, “Let Go for Tonight,” the album peaked at number five on the UK chart. Within a year, Allen issued “Body Talk,” the Top 25 lead single from her second album, All I Need, which was released in February 2016. Allen signed to [PIAS] Recordings in 2019, releasing the single “Love Not Loving You,” her first material in over four years, the following May.
