Baby, just don't lie there, baby, please don't stare
I can't help if I feel this way
Baby, I've been cryin', I've been tryin'
I fell in love, I tried to say

How could I know that love would slip away, slip away?
How could I know that love would slip away, slip away?

You always make some promises that you never keep
When you said you'd phone it in, ?? sleep
I try and understand you, babe, I did the best I could
I can't keep lovin' you the way I said I would

How could I know that love would slip away, slip away?
How could I know that love would slip away, slip away?

How'd I know that love would slip away, slip away?
How could I know that love would slip away, slip away?
How could I know that love would slip away, slip away?
How could I know that love would slip away, slip away?
