[Verse 1]
I had a dream about you last night
At first I took it as a sign
Some things are better left alone
So I told myself it's fine
Our time was short and sweet and simple
Uncomplicated by the past
Exchanging words in points of quiet
Unaware of who'd talk last
We gelled quickly and in seconds
I thought that I'd known you for years
You'd think that we'd have lasted longer
But I wouldn't shed a tear

[Chorus]
I had a dream about you last night
Your figure warm and far away
I had a dream about you last night
Eyes shut hoping you'd stay

[Verse 2]
But I think fondly of our time
Exchanging laughs and songs alike
You were the sugar to my sour
A sheer joy so childlike
And now I see you from a distance
I watch you flourish from afar
Sending thoughts and all well wishes
Writing this song on my guitar

[Chorus]
I had a dream about you last night
Your figure warm and far away
I had a dream about you last night
Eyes shut hoping you'd stay

[Bridge]
And I still think about you sometimes
Pondering what it could've been
But I would never trade the time we had
For all of that was a win

[Outro]
I had a dream about you last night
And you said your last goodbye
I woke up to wipe my tears
Although I said I'd never cry

mxmtoon

mxmtoon (pronounced em-ex-em-toon) is the moniker of Maia (born July 9, 2000), an Oakland-based singer, songwriter, and ukulele player. mxmtoon has a considerable online following, amounting to the hundreds of thousands, and successfully links conceptually relatable songs with goofy, self-deprecating music videos, of which evoke emotions across the gamut—everything from belly-laughing to weeping. She carries a persona that can be described as passionate, genuine, and warm; a friend who can be relied on through even the most emotionally challenging of times.

mxmtoon covers a wide range of conceptual themes in her music; such themes include matters regarding friendship, romance, body confidence, identity and teenage insecurities. She often uses a ukulele for accompaniment and has a distinctly unique musical sound characterized by elements of indie and bedroom pop, as well as slightly laconic lyrical delivery and sometimes unconventional melodic constructs. This style shined all throughout her debut EP plum blossom, which was recorded from the confines of her parents' guest room, and was released on December 7, 2018.

Nine months later, the Cavetown produced effort that was her debut full-length album the masquerade was released in September 17, 2019, followed by dawn and dusk in April 22, 2020 and October 1, 2020 respectively, with the latter two later being integrated into dawn & dusk, which was released on November 5, 2020.
