[Intro: Jody Watley]
Make that move right now, baby
Make that move right now, baby

[Verse 1: Howard Hewett]
So many times
By holding back I let the good things pass me by
And then one day I asked myself the reason why
And like an answer from above you came into my life

[Pre-Chorus: Howard Hewett, Jody Watley]
And showed me one thing for sure
With love nothing is certain
You got to go for it when you feel it
Everybody, everybody needs somebody to love
And I choose you, baby, so let's

[Chorus: Jody Watley, Howard Hewett]
Make that move right now, baby
You only go around once in a lifetime
Make that move right now, baby

[Verse 2: Howard Hewett]
So natural to
Give in to feelings deep inside when love is due
And I knew something was missing 'cause I feel brand new
And motivation's in my heart whenever I'm with you

[Pre-Chorus: Howard Hewett, Jody Watley]
So girl whatever you do
Just remember love is in motion
You got to hold on tight when you know it's right
Everybody, everybody needs somebody to love
And I choose you, baby, so let's

[Chorus: Jody Watley, Howard Hewett]
Make that move right now, baby
You only go around once in a lifetime
Make that move right now, baby
The longer you wait on love, the more you'll be without it

[Instrumental Break]

[Bridge: Shalamar]
Why don't you make that move, make that move, make that move
Make that move, make that move, make that move
Make that move, make that move, make that move
Make that move, make that move, make that move
Let's make that move
Make that move, make that move, make that move
Make that move, make that move, make that move
Make that move, make that move, make that move
Come on
Let's make that move

[Verse 3: Howard Hewett]
So many times
By holding back I let the good things pass me by
And then one day I asked myself the reason why
Like an answer from above you came into my life

[Pre-Chorus: Howard Hewett, Jody Watley]
And that showed me one thing for sure
With love nothing is certain
You got to go for it when you feel it
Everybody, everybody needs somebody to love
And I choose you, baby, so let's

[Chorus: Jody Watley, Howard Hewett]
Make that move right now, baby
You only go around once in a lifetime
Make that move right now, baby
The longer you wait on love, the more you'll be without it

[Outro: Jody Watley, Howard Hewett, Shalamar]
Make that move right now, baby
Make that move right now, baby
Make that move right now, baby
Make that move right now, baby
Make that move right now, baby
Make that move, you got to make that move, girl
Make that move right now, baby
Come on, baby, come on, pretty baby
Make that move right now, baby
I just want you to make that move right now
Make that move right now, baby
If you make that move with me, I'll be yours eternally
Make that move right now, baby
Make that move right now, baby
Make that move right now, baby
Make that move right now, baby

Shalamar

Shalamar is an American R&B and soul music vocal group, active in the mid-1970s and throughout the 1980s. Their original lineup consisted of Jeffrey Daniel, Jody Watley, and Gary Mumford. The group went through various lineup changes throughout the years, with Mumford replaced by Gerald Brown, and again by Howard Hewett. The lineup of Daniel, Hewett, and Watley was the most successful, selling two Platinum albums (Three For Love, Friends) and one Gold album (Big Fun).

Despite more lineup changes in the ‘80s, the group still churned out hits such as “Dancing in the Sheets” and “Don’t Get Stopped in Beverly Hills”, which won them a Grammy.

Daniel, Hewett, and Watley eventually reunited several times in the ‘90s and as recently as 2015, playing in the UK where they’ve had the most success.
