[Chorus: Howard Hewett, Shalamar]
There it is, there it is
What took us so long to find each other, baby?
There it is, there it is
This time I'm not wrong

[Verse 1: Howard Hewett]
But I knew the answer to why people fall in love
But then I found I knew nothing about it
'Til I met you, girl, I thought that I had had enough
Now I'm sure I've always been without it
And it feels so good that you and I can go together
Ooh baby, we won't find what we've been looking for
And this time I know we're gonna make it better
Our heart is a key to open up the door
Don't have to search no more

[Chorus: Howard Hewett, Shalamar]
There it is, there it is
What took us so long to find each other, baby?
There it is, there it is
This time I'm not wrong

[Verse 2: Howard Hewett]
In the sea of love we set our sails when waters were rough
Two in search of love with no direction
Fish were biting at the time when catching wasn't enough
We couldn't make a sport of our affection
And who could dream that we would sail into each other
Ooh girl, I never felt a wave of love so strong
And this love I never felt in any other
I trust it like a lighthouse guides a ship to land
I found it when you touched my hand

[Chorus: Howard Hewett, Shalamar]
Ooh, there it is
What took us so long for a love so strong?
There it is, ooh, there it is
This time I'm not wrong
I'm not wrong

[Bridge: Howard Hewett]
And it's about time
For love to find its way back home
Girl, you're mine
Now that we've found love we've got to carry on
There it is, ooh baby
There it is, this time I'm not wrong
Got a love that's so strong, ooh

[Instrumental Break]

[Pre-Chorus: Howard Hewett]
Like a lighthouse guides a ship to land
I found it when you touched my hand

[Chorus: Howard Hewett, Shalamar]
There it is, there it is
What took us so long to find each other, baby?
There it is, there it is
This time I'm not wrong
Oh, oh, there it is, hey
What took us so long to find a sweet, sweet love?
There it is
This time I'm not wrong
This time I'm not wrong
We got a love that's so strong
What took us so long...?

Shalamar

Shalamar is an American R&B and soul music vocal group, active in the mid-1970s and throughout the 1980s. Their original lineup consisted of Jeffrey Daniel, Jody Watley, and Gary Mumford. The group went through various lineup changes throughout the years, with Mumford replaced by Gerald Brown, and again by Howard Hewett. The lineup of Daniel, Hewett, and Watley was the most successful, selling two Platinum albums (Three For Love, Friends) and one Gold album (Big Fun).

Despite more lineup changes in the ‘80s, the group still churned out hits such as “Dancing in the Sheets” and “Don’t Get Stopped in Beverly Hills”, which won them a Grammy.

Daniel, Hewett, and Watley eventually reunited several times in the ‘90s and as recently as 2015, playing in the UK where they’ve had the most success.
