Songwriter: Alec Benjamin

[Verse 1]
When all you can do is turn back around
Walk over your footprints to what you've already found
And crawl through the pieces that you left on the ground

[Pre-Chorus]
'Cause everything is there, but its too close and it's too much
It's not the fear of letting go, but it's the fear of losing love
And that's just how the story goes as you watch your life unfold
Now what you have is what you had
And now its gone, you're on your own

[Chorus]
Every time I try to walk away, this nightmare
Adrenaline pulsing through my veins, brings me there
For every little thing that we do
No, I can't forget, I can't forget it's you
No, I won't forget you

[Verse 2]
No, I never wanted to leave things like this
I put up these walls, so you can't see in
But inside, I'm dying, oh, I want to let you in

[Pre-Chorus]
'Cause everything is there, but its too close and it's too much
It's not the fear of letting go, but it's the fear of losing love

[Chorus]
Every time I try to walk away, this nightmare
Adrenaline pulsing through my veins, brings me there
For every little thing that we do
No, I can't forget, I can't forget it's you
No, I won't forget you

[Bridge]
I won't, I won't forget you
I won't, no I won't forget you
Just slow down, just slow down
Just, slow down, just slow down
Slow down, and hold on

[Chorus]
Every time I try to walk away, this nightmare
Adrenaline pulsing through my veins, brings me there
For every little thing that we do
No, I can't forget, I can't forget it's you
No, I won't forget you

Alec Benjamin

After getting dropped by Columbia Records at 18 years old, singer-songwriter Alec Benjamin built a following by playing in parking lots outside of Shawn Mendes and Troye Sivan concerts. The Phoenix, Arizona native caught the attention of Jon Bellion, earning a songwriting credit on Bellion’s debut album and later joined him on tour.

To build on the momentum, Benjamin began uploading new songs to his YouTube channel at a rapid clip and eventually earned on a viral hit with “I Built a Friend” and a deal with Atlantic Records.

Benjamin connects to listeners by incorporating using his life struggles to tell stories and give meaning to his songs. You can see this in “Let Me Down Slowly,” “Paper Crown,” “I Built a Friend,” “Death of a Hero,” and “If We Have Each Other.”
