[Verse 1]
Got an email at 22
Told me I could be a star
On a plane for the first time
I couldn't wait to start
Landed at JFK
Father Christmas picked me up
Checked in to a dream hotel and I thought
"There's no such thing as luck"
I walked in to my interview
And I thought, "There's no such thing as luck"

[Pre-Chorus]
And oh, if I only knew then what I know now
I'd stand like a one-man band and I'd say
All this is new to me but
Here's how it's gonna be
And I'd say

[Chorus]
"Hey, there is more to me than meets the eye
Let me be who I wanna be"
And I’d say
"Hey, I'm an oddity and that's alright
Let me fly and follow my dreams"
Then I'd say
"Hey thanks for the weekend
A good time was had by all"
And I'd say
"Hey thanks for the weekend
I ain't a smooth-talker but thanks for the Fiji Water"
Thanks for the Fiji Water

[Verse 2]
Dinner under a palm tree
I had so much on my mind
Amazed by the bright lights
I stayed up half the night
And boy I took a leap of faith
With nowhere else to go but up
I walked in to my interview
And I thought
"There's no such thing as luck"

[Pre-Chorus]
And oh, if I only knew then what I know now
I'd stand like a one man band and I'd say
All this is new to me, but here's how it's gonna be

[Chorus]
And I'd say
"Hey, there is more to me than meets the eye
Let me be who I wanna be"
And I'd say
"Hey, I'm an oddity and that's alright
Let me fly and follow my dreams"
And I'd say
"Hey, thanks for the weekend
A good time was had by all"
And I'd say
"Hey, thanks for the weekend
I ain't a spin doctor but thanks for the offer
And by the way
Hey, thanks for the weekend
You know I had a ball"
And I'd say
"Hey, thanks for the weekend
I ain't a smooth-talker but thanks for the Fiji Water"
Thanks for the Fiji Water

[Outro]
I laughed when I got back home and I thought
"There's no such thing as luck"

Owl City

Originally making songs in his basement for his friends as Sky Sailing, Adam Young then discovered synth music and became Owl City, releasing two relatively unpopular albums Maybe I’m Dreaming and Of June before making his hit single “Fireflies” which made his third album as Owl City, Ocean Eyes a hit.

After this worldwide success he put on two more albums, All Things Bright and Beautiful in 2011, and The Midsummer Station in 2012. In 2014 he released an EP, Ultraviolet, composed of 4 songs whom one would appear on his following album, Mobile Orchestra. Retiring from Owl City in 2016 to focus on Adam Young Scores, a new project made of orchestral soundtracks about historic events, he reappeared in 2017 to tease his upcoming new album Cinematic, with the release of a series of three EPs, called Reel 1 , 2 and 3.
