[Verse 1: Owl City]
A spark soaring down below pouring rain
And restoring life to the lighthouse
A slow-motion wave on the ocean stirs
My emotion up like a rain cloud

[Pre-Chorus 1: Owl City]
When did the sky turn black?
And when will the light come back?

[Verse 2: Owl City]
A cab driver turned to skydiver then
To survivor dying to break down
A blood brother, surrogate mother
Hugging each other, crying their eyes out

[Pre-Chorus 2: Owl City]
When did the sky turn black?
And when will the light come back?
I'm ecstatic like a drug addict
Locked in the attic, strung out, and spellbound

[Chorus: Owl City]
I fought all through the night
Oh oh, but I made it alive!
The sun starting to rise
Oh, oh these are beautiful times!
This fight of my life is so hard, so hard, so hard!
But I'm gonna survive
Oh oh these are beautiful times!

[Violin Post-Chorus: Lindsey Stirling]

[Bridge: Owl City]
A bad feeling burned through the ceiling
Leaving my healing heart with a new scar
A dead fire rose, and rose higher like
A vampire up from the graveyard

[Pre-Chorus 3: Owl City]
When did the sky turn black?
And when will the light come back?
We all suffer but we recover just
To discover life where we all are

[Chorus: Owl City]
I fought all through the night
Oh oh, but I made it alive!
The sun starting to rise
Oh, oh these are beautiful times!
This fight of my life is so hard, so hard, so hard!
But I'm gonna survive
Oh oh these are beautiful times!

[Post-Chorus: Owl City]
This fight of my life is so hard, so hard, so hard!
But I'm gonna survive, oh oh these are beautiful times

[Outro]
My heart's burning bad
And it's turning black
But I'm learning how to be stronger
And sincerely I love you dearly
Oh, but I'm clearly destined to wonder

Owl City

Originally making songs in his basement for his friends as Sky Sailing, Adam Young then discovered synth music and became Owl City, releasing two relatively unpopular albums Maybe I’m Dreaming and Of June before making his hit single “Fireflies” which made his third album as Owl City, Ocean Eyes a hit.

After this worldwide success he put on two more albums, All Things Bright and Beautiful in 2011, and The Midsummer Station in 2012. In 2014 he released an EP, Ultraviolet, composed of 4 songs whom one would appear on his following album, Mobile Orchestra. Retiring from Owl City in 2016 to focus on Adam Young Scores, a new project made of orchestral soundtracks about historic events, he reappeared in 2017 to tease his upcoming new album Cinematic, with the release of a series of three EPs, called Reel 1 , 2 and 3.
