You were your mother's favourite son
'Till she went missing
So you hit the road in search of love
You met a girl and settled down
Someone to listen
Now you're trying hard to play the part

There's no use even trying
Because it's hopeless
All of our dreams are dying
Of overdoses
All of our plans are lying
In ten car road recks
There's just no point in crying
You know it's hopeless

Your blinds are drawn
You don't get up
So whose the winner
Her eyes are dead, she's all churned up
Like a poison tree whose roots are cut
You're getting thinner
And you can feel it in your bones

There's no use even trying
Because it's hopeless
All of our dreams are dying
Of overdoses
All of our plans are lying
In ten car road recks
There's just no point in crying
You know it's hopeless

Life is hard where you come from
But nothing's waisted
You're numbers up
Your time has come
So get a life don't get a gun
Go out and taste it
It's up to you don't get it wrong

There's no use even trying
Because it's hopeless
All of our dreams are dying
Of overdoses
All of our plans are lying
In ten car road recks
There's just no point in crying
You know it's hopeless

Shakespears Sister

Shakespear’s Sister is a pop-rock duo formed in 1988 by Siobhan Fahey, who left Bananarama after disagreements with the musical direction the band was going. The band was originally intended to be Fahey’s solo project, but immediately became a duo after she recruited American singer Marcella Detroit (aka Marcy Levy).
