Maybe I should simplify it
Well, I didn't care
Why bother to deny it
You just happen to be there

I was just a sad survivor
You made it clear
You took my indecision
For something sinister

Suddenly, we were more than an accident
Magically, we were Peters & Lee
Surgically, way beyond separation
But tragically we just couldn't agree

Maybe I should clarify it
It was doomed from the start
I gave you a staring role
But you tried to take my part

And even as the stars are shining
As we celebrate
You know I can't help thinking
What a cruel twisted fate

Suddenly, we were more than an accident
Magically, we were Peters & Lee
Surgically, way beyond separation
But tragically we just couldn't agree

Oh God, I like you're sense of humour
But I'll be looking out for it in future
Oh babe, I can't smile without you
Can't smile without you
If you knew what I'm going through
I just can't smile

Suddenly, we were more than an accident
(Can't smile without you)
Magically, we were Peters & Lee
(Can't smile without you)
Surgically, way beyond separation
(Can't smile without you)
But tragically we just couldn't agree

Shakespears Sister

Shakespear’s Sister is a pop-rock duo formed in 1988 by Siobhan Fahey, who left Bananarama after disagreements with the musical direction the band was going. The band was originally intended to be Fahey’s solo project, but immediately became a duo after she recruited American singer Marcella Detroit (aka Marcy Levy).
