Songwriter: Tinashe

Producer: BOYLORD

[INTRO: Tinashe]
I'm so sick of appeasing people, trying to make everybody... Your opinion is right, you're right, I'm not. You have to be a soldier, you have to be willing every day to go out there and look at the world and say "Hey I know that the situation is fucked up. Hey, I know that this is unfair, but you have to enjoy it for what it is."
This a fucked up twisted journey. It's a crazy world out there

[INTERLUDE: Tinashe singing when she was 6 years old]
Get me out of here
Get me out of here, get me out of here
Get me out of here, get me out of here
Get me out of here!

[INTERLUDE: Tinashe]
Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined I would be here right now
My head spins, consumed with overthought, my heart bleeds, yearning for something greater
And yet I hold on to hope that somehow the winding road of life will lead me to where I'm going
If I can just, keep on keeping on! I will arrive at my destination. Some day, some way

*Nightride starts to play*

[Verse 1]
Soft as a feather, and black as the night
Break me to pieces
Sharp as a knife
Day after day, moon after moon

[Pre-Chorus]
I will love you, I will love you, I will love you
I will love you, I will love you , I will love you

[Chorus]
I will comfort you
I will comfort you
I will comfort you
I will comfort you

I will comfort you
I will comfort you

[Verse 1]
Soft as a feather, and black as the night
Break me to pieces
Sharp as a knife

[Pre-Chorus]
I will love you, I will love you, I will love you
I will love you, I will love you , I will love you

[Chorus]
I will comfort you
I will comfort you
I will comfort you
I will comfort you

I will comfort you
I will comfort you

[INTERLUDE: Tinashe speaks]
This is not the world I once called home
This is not the same land that I once loved
I used to open my eyes and see the colors dancing on the clouds
Hear the laughter of children, smell the grass freshly cut
The birds use to sing to one another
Now, they shriek and cry
The hues of hope and warmth have drained from the earth
I feel the panic well up inside of me like water about to boil
The situation is only growing more and more dire
To maintain our freedom
We must fight
We can move the ground and we can shift the energy
The ceiling dances above me
The ground shakes around me
I am powerful
I can change the world
I can feel your energy
I can feel your energy
I can change the world
I can change the world (I can change the world)

[OUTRO: Tinashe singing when she was younger]
Thank you, thank you

Tinashe Jorgenson Kachingwe, known mononymously as Tinashe, is an American singer-songwriter, actress, dancer, and former model born in Lexington, Kentucky and raised in Los Angeles, California.

Born on February 6, 1993, her rise to fame began with her acting on shows such as Two and a Half Men. Initially making her debut in the music industry via the short-lived girl group The Stunners—which also featured Hayley Kiyoko—she garnered attention from online music blogs with her 2012 mixtape, In Case We Die. Signing with RCA Records shortly after, she released two further mixtapes later that year and in 2013: Reverie and Black Water respectively. “2 On” was released in January 2014 as the lead single from her debut album, Aquarius, and remains her biggest solo single to date. Released in October that year, the album was praised by critics for its merging of old-school R&B sounds and fresh 2010s trends. The follow-up was subjected to much-criticised although “Player” was billed as the collection’s lead single as early as October 2015, songs released from the project failed to reach the label’s expectations, resulting in the release of an album’s worth of outtakes from the album, Nightride, in November 2016. Joyride was finally released on April 13: it features the singles “No Drama”, “Faded Love” and “Me So Bad”.

On February 18, 2019, Tinashe parted ways with her longtime record label RCA. By November that year, she inked a new management deal with Roc Nation and self-released Songs for You, her fourth studio album.
