[Intro: Reversed]
What can I do? What can I do?
You can catch me in the dark of night getting my whole life
Underneath the sapphire sky
Your perception of me is so untrue
What can I do? What can I do?
You can catch me in the dark of night getting my whole life
Underneath the sapphire sky
Your perception of me is so untrue
What can I do? What can I do?

[Verse 1]
You don't know me like you think you do, no
Yeah, and I don't fit the mold you wanna force me into, that's for sure
You can catch me in the dark of night getting my whole life underneath the sapphire sky
Your perception of me so untrue, what can I do?

[Pre-Chorus]
And now I found myself at the edge of my sanity
Lyin', I hold myself back, look at it the other way
Please, don't come around here talkin' 'bout what's best for me
When I told you just the other day, just the other day, baby

[Chorus]
You don't know me like you think you do
You don't know me like you think you do
You don't know me like you think you do
You don't know me like you think you do

[Interlude: Reversed]
What can I do?
You can catch me in the dark of night getting my whole life
Underneath the sapphire sky
Your perception of me is so untrue
What can I do? What can I do?

[Verse 2]
Head hung low just like you owe me an apology
Something tells me you ain't gonna say no
How can you? Tonight you really won the lottery
Afterparty with the lights turned low
Everybody wants to live by the philosophy
This is something, this is something
And you can blame it on society
But grew up in a generation of variety

[Pre-Chorus]
And now I found myself at the edge of my sanity
Lyin', I hold myself back, look at it the other way
Please, don't come around here talkin' 'bout what's best for me
When I told you just the other day, just the other day

[Chorus]
You don't know me like you think you do
You don't know me like you think you do
You don't know me like you think you do
You don't know me like you think you do

Tinashe

Tinashe Jorgenson Kachingwe, known mononymously as Tinashe, is an American singer-songwriter, actress, dancer, and former model born in Lexington, Kentucky and raised in Los Angeles, California.

Born on February 6, 1993, her rise to fame began with her acting on shows such as Two and a Half Men. Initially making her debut in the music industry via the short-lived girl group The Stunners—which also featured Hayley Kiyoko—she garnered attention from online music blogs with her 2012 mixtape, In Case We Die. Signing with RCA Records shortly after, she released two further mixtapes later that year and in 2013: Reverie and Black Water respectively. “2 On” was released in January 2014 as the lead single from her debut album, Aquarius, and remains her biggest solo single to date. Released in October that year, the album was praised by critics for its merging of old-school R&B sounds and fresh 2010s trends. The follow-up was subjected to much-criticised although “Player” was billed as the collection’s lead single as early as October 2015, songs released from the project failed to reach the label’s expectations, resulting in the release of an album’s worth of outtakes from the album, Nightride, in November 2016. Joyride was finally released on April 13: it features the singles “No Drama”, “Faded Love” and “Me So Bad”.

On February 18, 2019, Tinashe parted ways with her longtime record label RCA. By November that year, she inked a new management deal with Roc Nation and self-released Songs for You, her fourth studio album.
