[Verse 1]
Lately, I've been missin'
The little look in your eyes
That lets me know that everything will be okay
Tell me what has changed
I find it hard to hold on
To the butterflies that used to be inside
You don't have to say a word
It's written all over your face
So before...

[Pre-Chorus]
So before the night is through
I want some time with you
Here's what we're gonna do...ooh yeah...

[Chorus]
Let's take the long way home
So we can be alone
And talk about what's goin' on
Pull on over to the side
All we have is time
So tell me what's on your mind
Let's take the long way home
I can see that something's wrong
Boy, you gotta let me know
While there's no one else around
We can work it out, yeah
Let's take the long way home

[Verse 2]
I know it's messed up but I'm hopin'
That we can get it together
It might be hard to see
When we're havin' doubts, tryin' to work it out
And though it seems easier to pull away
You see, I want you to know that I will stay right here
'Cause we deserve another try
So let's just enjoy the ride

[Pre-Chorus]
So before the night is through
I want some time with you
Here's what we're gonna do...

[Chorus]
Let's take the long way home
So we can be alone
And talk about what's goin' on
Pull on over to the side
All we have is time
So tell me what's on your mind
Let's take the long way home
I can see that something's wrong
Boy, you gotta let me know
While there's no one else around
We can work it out, yeah
Let's take the long way home

[Bridge]
Take a left right here on Heartbreak Avenue
(It's where I first met you, boy)
You said you wanna take a spin
That's how it all began
So we can get it back to lovin' again

[Chorus]
Let's take the long way home
So we can be alone
And talk about what's goin' on
Pull on over to the side
All we have is time
So tell me what's on your mind
Let's take the long way home
I can see that something's wrong
Boy, you gotta let me know
While there's no one else around
We can work it out, yeah
Let's take the long way home
Let's take the long way home
So we can be alone
And talk about what's goin' on
Pull on over to the side
All we have is time
So tell me what's on your mind
Let's take the long way home
I can see that something's wrong
Boy, you gotta let me know
While there's no one else around
We can work it out, yeah
Let's take the long way home

[Outro]
Woo, ooh yeah
I'm not gonna leave you alone
I'm not gonna leave you alone
The long way home...

Toni Braxton

Toni Braxton (born on October 7, 1967) is an American singer-songwriter, pianist, record producer, actress, and philanthropist, and has been active since 1989. She is best known for her single “Unbreak My Heart” and her second album Secrets. Braxton was discovered early by William E. Pettaway Jr., who helped her launch her career.

Braxton first started performing with her four sisters in a family band titled “The Braxtons” in the late 1980s, successfully attracting the attention of Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, who were co-artists Braxton’s songs, including her signature song, Un-Break My Heart.

L.A. Reid and Babyface brought Braxton in as a substitution and had her record a demo of “Love Shoulda Brought You Home”. The song made it onto the soundtrack of the movie Boomerang, giving her early success and recognition. Braxton started recording her solo debut album at LaFace Records on July 13, 1993, quickly gaining popularity as it peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 Albums Chart. Braxton’s debut album has won her several awards, including three Grammy Awards. Her debut album also won her two American Music Awards.
