[Verse 1]
Ain't nobody ever prove their love when
Things are all good and two people are smiling
Love is found way down in the trenches
When he's throwin' a fit
And she's sittin' there crying
We tear it up (Tear it up)
Uh, to patch it up (Patch it up)
Uh, break up to make up
The show goes round and round
And that's how we get down
We go back and forth
And anybody who's sat through this should know
That what I'm saying's the realest
Real lovers feel this way

[Chorus]
We say things that we don't mean
And that's the way love works out sometimes
He trippin', she trippin'
And we both be trippin', man
'Cause that's the way love works out sometimes
'Cause when that song is on
And you're no longer stressin'
And life teaches a lesson
That love is still a blessing
'Cause when it's all said and done
We're back at square one
And that's the way love works out sometimes

[Verse 2]
What you know about screamin', yellin', cussin', pushin', and rumblin' and arguin'
Like it's 12 rounds up inside The Garden?
I say, "Where the hell you goin'?"
And you say, "I'm gettin' outta here"
And I say, "You ain't goin' nowhere"
Then I follow you down the stairs
And get in front of you and I scream
At times like this, I know you're still the one
And the truth is this is really love
And, oh-yeah yeah
When I feel like goin' off, I brush my shoulders off
And you know, yeah

[Chorus]
We say things that we don't mean
But that's the way love works out sometimes
He trippin', she trippin'
And we both be trippin', man
That's the way love works out sometimes
'Cause when that song is on
And you're no longer stressin'
And life teaches a lesson
That love is still a blessing
'Cause when it's all said and done
We're back at square one
And that's the way love works out sometimes

[Bridge]
You won't believe it until you see it
(How much you need somebody, need somebody)
And you'll never know how far you'll go
(When you love somebody, love somebody)
Oh
(How much you need somebody, need somebody)
(When you love somebody, love somebody)
Sometimes, we say the craziest things

[Chorus]
We say things that we don't mean
But that's the way love works out sometimes
He trippin', she trippin' (Baby)
And we both be trippin', man
That's the way love works out sometimes
'Cause when that song is on
And you're no longer stressin' (Ooh, babe)
And life teaches a lesson
That love is still a blessing
'Cause when it's all said and done
It's back to square one
That's the way love works out sometimes
We say things that we don't mean
'Cause that's the way love works out sometimes
He trippin', she trippin'
And we both be trippin', man
That's the way love works out sometimes
'Cause when that song is on (On and on and on and on)
And you're no longer stressin'
And life teaches a lesson
That love is still a blessing
When it's all said and done
It's back to square one
And that's the way love works out sometimes

[Outro]
That's the way love works out sometimes
That's the way love works out sometimes

Toni Braxton

Toni Braxton (born on October 7, 1967) is an American singer-songwriter, pianist, record producer, actress, and philanthropist, and has been active since 1989. She is best known for her single “Unbreak My Heart” and her second album Secrets. Braxton was discovered early by William E. Pettaway Jr., who helped her launch her career.

Braxton first started performing with her four sisters in a family band titled “The Braxtons” in the late 1980s, successfully attracting the attention of Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, who were co-artists Braxton’s songs, including her signature song, Un-Break My Heart.

L.A. Reid and Babyface brought Braxton in as a substitution and had her record a demo of “Love Shoulda Brought You Home”. The song made it onto the soundtrack of the movie Boomerang, giving her early success and recognition. Braxton started recording her solo debut album at LaFace Records on July 13, 1993, quickly gaining popularity as it peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 Albums Chart. Braxton’s debut album has won her several awards, including three Grammy Awards. Her debut album also won her two American Music Awards.
