[Verse 1]
Rose girls in glass vases
Perfect bodies, perfect faces
They all belong in magazines
Those girls the boys are chasing
Winning all the games they're playing
They're always in a different league

[Pre-Chorus]
Stretching toward the sky like I don't care
Wishing you could see me standing there

[Chorus]
But I'm a sunflower, a little funny
If I was a rose, maybe you'd want me
If I could, I'd change overnight
And turn into something you'd like
But I'm a sunflower, a little funny
If I was a rose, maybe you'd pick me
But I know you don't have a clue
This sunflower's waiting for you
Waiting for you

[Verse 2]
No thorns in this dimension
Hiding this fear of rejection
This high I've never felt so small
Not used to this attention
Permanently in suspension
I wish I didn't care at all

[Pre-Chorus]
Stretching toward the sky like I don't care
Wishing you could see me standing there

[Chorus]
But I'm a sunflower, a little funny
If I was a rose, maybe you'd want me
If I could, I'd change overnight
And turn into something you'd like
But I'm a sunflower, a little funny
If I was a rose, maybe you'd pick me
But I know you don't have a clue
This sunflower's waiting for you
Waiting for you

[Outro]
I'm a sunflower, a little funny
If I was a rose, maybe you'd pick me
But I know you don't have a clue
This sunflower's waiting for you
Waiting for you

Allie X

Alexandra Ashley Hughes, better known by her stage name Allie X, is a Canadian singer-songwriter.

Allie first started her career under the stage name Allie Hughes in Toronto around 2006, performing indie pop, indie rock, jazz and electronic influenced music. She released her album, Waiting for the Prize the same year. She then proceeded two further releases, including another album Ladies and Gentlemen in 2009 and an extended play titled Allie Hughes in 2010. All of the aforementioned releases were released independently and sold mainly at live shows.

In 2011-2012, Allie started performing under the stage name ALX. Under this name, the single “I Will Love You More” was released in March of 2012. Despite ALX only having only one official song release, numerous unreleased original songs from this era were performed live during 2012 shows such as “Chad Redux”, “Homebound” and “Phantom”. The ALX project eventually came to an end in late 2012. In July 2013, Allie decided to leave Canada and move to Los Angeles to pursue a full-time career as a singer-songwriter, signing a publishing deal. During 2013 she spent time learning about sound design and production and worked with numerous songwriters and producers including Billboard and Cirkut, who she met that year.
