[Verse 1: JoJo, K-Ci, Jodeci]
You wanna be a star, you wanna be my girl, you wanna be my lady
(How could I start to tell you what I need?)
I got a love for a girl like you, my baby
(I wanna be your play thang, you can be my baby)

I’ve got to treat you like a lady with a lot of class
He didn’t treat you right (Yo, you shoulda kicked that ass)
Ah, get an attitude both day and night
Only getting satisfied when you’re treated right

[Chorus: Jodeci]
Treat you like a lady, treat you like
Treat you like a lady, treat you like
Treat you like a lady, treat you like
Treat you like a lady, treat you like you wanna be treated

[Interlude: DeVante Swing]
Yo…yo…yo…yo, I gotta do my thing
Treat you right

[Verse 2: K-Ci]
He really don’t know how to treat you right
You gotta keep coming to me, baby, every night
I got something I know you like
I’m gonna sex you crazy like you’re my wife

[Chorus: Jodeci]
Treat you like a lady, treat you like (I’m gonna treat you right)
Treat you like a lady, treat you like (Take you out at night)
Treat you like a lady, treat you like (Ah yeah)
Treat you like a lady, treat you like you wanna be treated

[Interlude: DeVante Swing]
JoJo, show her how you feel

[Bridge: JoJo]
Show her how I feel
In the morning, yeah, in the evening
How I feel about you

[Chorus: Jodeci, K-Ci]
Treat you like a lady, treat you like
Treat you like a lady, treat you like
(Take you out at night)
Treat you like a lady, treat you like
(Yes, I will; yes, I will, baby, oh)
Treat you like a lady, treat you like you wanna be treated

[Bridge 2: DeVante Swing, Jodeci]
Yo, I’m gonna talk and plan
Yo, I wanna make it grand
Yo, I gotta do my thing (You wanna be treated)
Yo, I’m gonna talk and plan
Yo, I wanna make it grand
Yo, I gotta do my thing (You wanna be treated)

[Verse 3: Mr. Dalvin]
Girl, I know you’re hot, I see your body glowing
So can I touch you and get that river flowing?
So what you got a man — how long you had that problem?
Now you’re in the right place ‘cause I can surely solve
I’ll kiss you ‘til you squeal, where I hear you scream
Yo, I wanna brand you as my own play thing
You want commitments? I got the ring
Yo, the J-the O-the D-the E-the C-the I, help me sing

[Chorus: Jodeci, K-Ci]
Treat you like a lady, treat you like
(Treat you like you wanna be treated)
Treat you like a lady, treat you like
(I love you, girl, yes I do)
Treat you like a lady, treat you like
Treat you like a lady, treat you like you wanna be treated

[Outro: DeVante Swing, Jodeci]
Yo, they don’t know
Drop it on ‘em, drop it on ‘em (You want…)
Just drop it on ‘em, drop it on ‘em
(You wanna be treated)

Yo, you satisfied? I’m outta here

Jodeci

Started in 1983, Jodeci is comprised of two sets of brothers—Cedric and Joel Hailey (also known as K-Ci and JoJo) and Donald and Dalvin Degrate (also known as DeVante Swing and Mr. Dalvin). Jodeci were once known as the “bad boys of R&B,” notable particularly because they were actually boys at the time, breaking out as teenagers in 1991 with their debut album and its title ballad, “Forever My Lady.” Natives of North Carolina, they were discovered by Heavy D, who overheard their demo when an A&R at Uptown was in the process of passing on them. Heavy D introduced Jodeci to Uptown founder Andre Harrell, who signed them after they sang in his office, and handed them off to his then-protégé Puff Daddy, who outfitted the group in dark shades and coordinating leather ensembles. The look, along with the streetwise soul found in songs like “Cry 4 U” and “Feenin” (as well as a few run-ins with the law) made them the antithesis to good-guy personas of then-peaking R&B superstars Boyz II Men. Devante, who along with Mr. Dalvin held down production duties for the group, founded the Swing Mob, a collective responsible for the discovery of musical geniuses like Timbaland, Missy Elliott, and Static Major. As a group, Jodeci would go on to release three critically-acclaimed album in the ‘90s, before disappearing from the limelight. K-Ci and JoJo splintered off as a duo in 1997, producing hit single “All My Life” and, eventually, five albums, but adoring fans never let go of their Jodeci obsession. In March, the group released The Past, The Present, The Future, the first Jodeci album in two decades. Jodeci, if y'all reading this, where’d you go?
