(Joan Jett/Kenny Laguna)

Hey don't play with my brain
We are all the same
Save your flattery
Just take it easy with me

If ya want my luv
If ya want my luv ya gotta learn
To treat me with respect
If ya want my luv luv me enough
To drop the strings that ya brought
If ya want my luv then realize
That I ain't some pet that ya bought
If ya want my luv

You always try so hard
I don't want some silly card
I want what you are
Now that's not too bizarre

If ya want my luv
If you're spendin' time with me
You better keep it hassle free
I'll tell you
If ya want my luv luv me enough
To drop the strings that ya brought
If ya want my luv then realize
That I ain't some pet that ya bought
If ya want my luv

Wait, I'll show you how to play
If you plan to be with me
You better give me space to breathe
I wanna know

If ya want my luv
If ya want my luv

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts

After splitting with The Runaways, and releasing her first solo album, Joan Jett placed an ad in LA Weekly looking for bandmates. Gary Ryan, Eric Ambel, and Danny “Furious” O'Brien joined her, creating the orginial Blackhearts lineup.

After their initial tour though, O'Brien was replaced with Lee Crystal.

Early on, keeping the band afloat was not easy. Joan and producer Kenny Laguna struggled, sometimes selling copies of albums from the trunk of his car. Eventually unable to keep up with the demand for Joan Jett’s album, they signed with Boardwalk Records.
