Wanna be a star
Well just lower the bar
Humiliation becomes routine
What you’re playin’ out on your TV screen
You say, “Hey look at me” (Hey look at me)
The famous chickie
Competin’ for a post on my thousand block(?)
Uppin’ the ante for celebutante
Reality mentality (reality mentality)
Whoa oh oh
Reality mentality (reality mentality)
Whoa oh oh
Did you look today?
You can’t look away
Aow!
It’s getting’ shticky out there
Now it’s buyer beware
Stone machinery is employed
You say, “Hey enjoy the show”
And shut employed(?)
It’s a reality mentality (reality mentality)
Whoa oh oh
Reality mentality (reality mentality)
Whoa oh oh
Did you look today?
You can’t look away
Aow!
It’s demeaning
Needs depleting
Dramatize and stylize for a price
A fame and misfortune, a guise of life
You live reality mentality (reality mentality)
Whoa oh oh
Reality mentality (reality mentality)
Whoa oh oh
Reality mentality
Reality mentality
Reality mentality
Reality mentality
Whoa oh oh

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts

After splitting with The Runaways, and releasing her first solo album, Joan Jett placed an ad in LA Weekly looking for bandmates. Gary Ryan, Eric Ambel, and Danny “Furious” O'Brien joined her, creating the orginial Blackhearts lineup.

After their initial tour though, O'Brien was replaced with Lee Crystal.

Early on, keeping the band afloat was not easy. Joan and producer Kenny Laguna struggled, sometimes selling copies of albums from the trunk of his car. Eventually unable to keep up with the demand for Joan Jett’s album, they signed with Boardwalk Records.
