She's got beautiful eyes
It hurts to see them cry
But they cry all day long
Since you've been gone

So why, why does that girl cry
I'll tell you the reason she's blue
She lost you

Well that girl gets around
She goes all over town
She's goin' down too fast
She's livin' in the past

So why, why does that girl cry
I'll tell you the reason she's blue
She lost you

I know it's none of my business
She's so sad to see
If I was in your position
Think how good it would be
Yeah it would

So why, why does that girl cry
I'll tell you the reason she's blue
She lost you

She got a beautiful face
She got a luxury place
She got a diamond ring
She got everything

So why, why does that girl cry
I'll tell you the reason she's blue
She lost you
She lost you
I lost you
I lost you

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts

After splitting with The Runaways, and releasing her first solo album, Joan Jett placed an ad in LA Weekly looking for bandmates. Gary Ryan, Eric Ambel, and Danny “Furious” O'Brien joined her, creating the orginial Blackhearts lineup.

After their initial tour though, O'Brien was replaced with Lee Crystal.

Early on, keeping the band afloat was not easy. Joan and producer Kenny Laguna struggled, sometimes selling copies of albums from the trunk of his car. Eventually unable to keep up with the demand for Joan Jett’s album, they signed with Boardwalk Records.
