[Verse 1]
Contemplation fear
Lying on the floor
Staring into nothing
What the hell am I here for?
So come on and play
Stab it in my heart
So all this time was wasted
Ripping me apart

[Pre-Chorus]
We are the hurt inside your head
Lost in the void of what is dead
Constantly twisting things I've said
Happiness is boring, need pain instead

[Chorus 1]
It's starting over!
Starting over!
Can't stand it's over!
God is gonna take me out!
My time is over!
This time is over!
Why is this over?
God is gonna take me out!

[Verse 2]
Crawling on the floor
All around this space
Talking to myself
What is this thing I gotta face?
Walking through a door
Has it been a waste?
Going on and on
Thinking I could find my place

[Pre-Chorus]
We are the hurt inside your head
Lost in the void of what is dead
Constantly twisting things I've said
Happiness is boring, need pain instead

[Chorus 2]
It's starting over!
Starting over!
Can't stand it's over!
God is gonna take me out!
My time is over!
This time is over!
Why is this over?
God is gonna take me out!
God is gonna take me out!
God is gonna take me out!

[Bridge]
You can't see
I'm torn away from you
And everything that's close to me
I cannot face the truth
It's nothing that I believe
Just run away from me
And thank me when you're free from me
Come take me!
Come take me!
Come take me!
Come take me!
Come take me!

[Outro]
We are the hurt inside your head (Come take me)
Lost in the void of what is dead
Constantly twisting things I've said (Come take me)
Happiness is boring, need pain instead
We are the hurt inside your head (Come take me)
Lost in the void of what is dead
Constantly twisting things I've said (Come take me)
Happiness is boring, need pain instead

Bakersfield friends James “Munky” Shaffer, Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu and David Silveria formed the funk-rock band LAPD in 1989 and moved to Los Angeles with another friend Brian “Head” Welch as their roadie. Later, with Welch as second guitarist, the band named themselves Creep and recorded a demo with pal Ross Robinson.

However, when Shaffer and Welch visited family in Bakersfield, they met Jonathan Davis who added a darker, goth-tinged edge to the band’s heavy groove. Robinson

The band wasn’t dark yet; it had, like, killer grooves and good riffs, but there was some happy edge to it. And when (Davis) walked into the room, it went dark and goth. Basically, during the first song, to audition in the rehearsal room, he started freaking the hell out [laughs]. You couldn’t hear his voice, but you felt chills all over your body, and it was instantly like, “Oh my God, yeah – he’s the one.”
