[Spoken Intro: Michael Jackson, Jackie Jackson, (Randy Jackson)]
You know, Jack
Yes, Michael
I've been thinkin'
About what?
You know, these fellas play the instruments, they think they so cool
They just sit down, boom boom boom, on the guitars
Make all the girls fall out
Man, they think they so cool
No no no, look at Jermaine
He think he's cool -- you do
Look at that, he just think he's cool
But we gon' change this right now, you know that?
(What are we gonna do about it?)
We're gonna do our own thing, okay?
(Yeah)
Ayy fellas, eat your heart out
Whoa, whoa, yeah, ooh hoo

[Chorus: Michael Jackson & (The Jacksons)]
It's your thing (It's your thing), do what you wanna do
I can't tell you, who to sock it to
It's your thing (It's your thing), do what you wanna do
I can't tell you, who to sock it to

[Verse 1: Michael Jackson & (The Jacksons)]
If you want me to love you, maybe I will
I need you, woman, it ain't no big deal
Ah, you need love now, just as bad as I do
Makes me no difference now, who you give your thing to

[Chorus: Michael Jackson & (The Jacksons)]
Yeah, it's your thing (It's your thing), do what you wanna do
I can't tell you, who to sock it to
It's your thing (It's your thing), girl, do what you wanna do
I can't tell you, no no, who to sock it to, whoa whoa

[Chorus: Michael Jackson & (The Jacksons)]
Say, it's your thing (It's your thing), do what you wanna do
I can't tell you, who to sock it to — hit me, man
It's your thing (It's your thing), girl, do what you wanna do
I can't tell you, who to sock it to

[Bridge: Michael Jackson & (The Jacksons)]
Can I hear you say it's my thing (It's your thing)
Come on now, let me hear you say it
Let me hear you say it's my thing (It's your thing)
Come on, let me hear you say it up there
Let me hear you say it's my thing (It's your thing)
Let me hear you say it's my thing (It's your thing)
Come on now, let me hear you say it's my thing (It's your thing)
Come on, let me hear you say it's my thing (It's your thing)
Come on, let me hear you say it's my thing (It's your thing)
Whoa whoa yeah, ooh, oh oh oh

[Chorus: Michael Jackson & (The Jacksons)]
Say, it's your thing (It's your thing), do what you wanna do
Ooh, I can't tell you, who to sock it to — hit me, man
It's your thing (It's your thing), now do what you wanna do
I can't tell you, who to sock it to

[Outro: Michael Jackson & (The Jacksons)]
Let me hear you say it's my thing (It's your thing)
Ah yeah, let me hear you say it's my thing now (It's your thing)
Let me hear you say it's my thing (It's your thing)
Let me hear you say it's my thing (It's your thing)
Okay
Whoa whoa whoa, yeah, woo
Let me hear you say it's my thing (It's your thing)
Woo, let me hear you say it's my thing (It's your thing)
Okay now (It's your thing)
Ooh whoa whoa whoa yeah, woo woo, oh
Woo, yeah, let me hear you say it's my thing (It's your thing)
Let me hear you say it's my thing (It's your thing)
Thank you a lot
I think this the song you all been waiting for

The Jackson 5

The Jackson 5 were originally formed in 1963 under the name, The Jackson Brothers. The founding members were Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon. Michael would join the group as the lead singer a year later, a move which pushed Jermaine to sing the backing vocals and play the lead guitar.

After participating in a series of talent shows, they entered the professional music scene in 1967, signing with Steeltown Records and releasing ten singles. In 1969, they left Steeltown Records in order to sign with Motown.

In 1975, most of the Jacksons had opted out of recording any more music for Motown, expressing desires to have creative control over their songs, as well as royalties. Learning that they were earning only 2.8% of royalties from Motown, Joe Jackson, the father and manager of the group, began to negotiate a lucrative contract with Epic records, which offered a royalty rate of 20% per record. The deal was completed in June 1975. As Motown owned the name The Jackson 5, the group simply renamed themselves The Jacksons.
