Songwriter: Tinashe

[Verse 1: Tinashe]
This gon’ be the third night
Jumping up out my sleep
Can’t find the air to breathe
You’re taking it all out of me
There’s no prescription
Strong enough for your memories

[Pre-Hook]
Clenching on my fists, biting on my lips
Punching through the walls, tryna make sense

[Hook]
I’ve never been a drinker, just a heavy thinker
Been around the smokers, that’s just not my focus
We almost had it all but you lost your way, sound the alarm
Somebody call the rehab, you just had a relapse
Amo cho te mato, terminal mi lado
I’m not one of those, I’m just a girl with a cause
Hold your applause

[Verse 2]
This gon’ be the 5th day, living without you there
Can’t keep my mind straight
Maybe this was a mistake
We’re on the verge of extinction
Watch it all slips away

[Bridge]
Gather in this war
White flag is going up for sure
Yeah you feel the fire
The stakes get higher (higher)
I put on such a show
The type that you ain’t never seen before
So where’s my round of applause ?
At least I know I get an encore

Tinashe

Tinashe Jorgenson Kachingwe, known mononymously as Tinashe, is an American singer-songwriter, actress, dancer, and former model born in Lexington, Kentucky and raised in Los Angeles, California.

Born on February 6, 1993, her rise to fame began with her acting on shows such as Two and a Half Men. Initially making her debut in the music industry via the short-lived girl group The Stunners—which also featured Hayley Kiyoko—she garnered attention from online music blogs with her 2012 mixtape, In Case We Die. Signing with RCA Records shortly after, she released two further mixtapes later that year and in 2013: Reverie and Black Water respectively. “2 On” was released in January 2014 as the lead single from her debut album, Aquarius, and remains her biggest solo single to date. Released in October that year, the album was praised by critics for its merging of old-school R&B sounds and fresh 2010s trends. The follow-up was subjected to much-criticised although “Player” was billed as the collection’s lead single as early as October 2015, songs released from the project failed to reach the label’s expectations, resulting in the release of an album’s worth of outtakes from the album, Nightride, in November 2016. Joyride was finally released on April 13: it features the singles “No Drama”, “Faded Love” and “Me So Bad”.

On February 18, 2019, Tinashe parted ways with her longtime record label RCA. By November that year, she inked a new management deal with Roc Nation and self-released Songs for You, her fourth studio album.
