Songwriter: Joan Jett & The Blackhearts Dougie Needles

[Verse 1]
When we were young
We're so full of time
We never thought about
Being left behind
We ran every night
And we rule every day
We never cared about
What the people would say

[Chorus]
And we never knew
That time fades away
And I miss you already
Everyday

[Verse 2]
I think of it now
In the back of my mind
You and me both
Nothing but time
All these memories so real to me
I don't want 'em to fade
And your voice sounds so clear to me
And I hear you say

[Chorus]
That we never knew
That time fades away
And I miss you already
Everyday

[Bridge]
Even though I feel this way
I still have concerns
In my mind, you are here with me
But right now my heart yearns yearns yearns

[Verse 3]
Now I can see
It's how far we've come
There's so much left
Things I haven't done
So I am letting the fire burn
Into the night
And I'm watching the darks turn
Into the light

[Chorus]
And we never knew
That time fades away
And I miss you already
Everyday

[Chorus]
Yeah yeah
And we never knew
That time fades away
And I miss you already
I miss you already
I miss you already
Everyday

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts

After splitting with The Runaways, and releasing her first solo album, Joan Jett placed an ad in LA Weekly looking for bandmates. Gary Ryan, Eric Ambel, and Danny “Furious” O'Brien joined her, creating the orginial Blackhearts lineup.

After their initial tour though, O'Brien was replaced with Lee Crystal.

Early on, keeping the band afloat was not easy. Joan and producer Kenny Laguna struggled, sometimes selling copies of albums from the trunk of his car. Eventually unable to keep up with the demand for Joan Jett’s album, they signed with Boardwalk Records.
