[Verse 1]
Oh, oh, yeah, she was leaving on a Thursday morning
I couldn’t do it for her, anymore
She said she’s moving to Receita
I guess I didn’t need her, anymore
So I was walking on the other side of
The wrong place, the wrong time, got caught up
With all the shit you always told me stay away from
I guess I don’t give a fuck, anymore
So, I’m celebrating every risk I’m taking
I sold my soul for every fucking move I’m making
And I don’t care, how you feel

[Chorus]
So fuck it, let's get high
So high that we can’t see
Cause I sold my soul
For the city of dreams
I did it for the city, the city
Do it for the city, the city of dreams
I sold my soul

[Verse 2]
Whoa, oh, I got a bottle and an empty bedroom
Posters on the walls, ripped down
I thought I knew my fucking heroes
I don’t know my fucking heroes, anymore
So I drank a fifth then stumbled down the hallway
I couldn’t see or feel my legs, anymore
Cause I was walking right along the side of
Everybody that you said to stay the fuck away from
We're celebrating every risk we're taking
I sold my soul for every fucking move I’m making
And I don’t care, how you feel

[Chorus]
So fuck it let's get high
So high that we can’t see
Cause I sold my soul
For the city of dreams
I did it for the city, the city
Do it for the city, the city of dreams
I sold my soul
I do it for the city, the city
Do it for the city, the city of dreams
I sold my soul

[Outro]
I did it for the city, the city
Do it for the city, the city of dreams
I sold my soul

blackbear

blackbear is the stage name of LA-based producer and singer-songwriter Mat Musto, popularly known for co-writing Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend,” in 2012. Some of his first collaborations were with the likes of Pharrell Williams, MGK, and Childish Gambino. Later, Musto reinvented himself—he coined the name blackbear from a previous EP titled Year of the Blackbear. Under his new name, he started leaning more towards rapping and an R&B-oriented style.

His first mixtape Sex included collaborations with his peers James Blake, Maejor Ali, and “Boyfriend” co-writer Mike Posner. The Afterglow followed in 2014.

In 2015, blackbear released “idfc,” as the lead single from his debut album Deadroses. It increased his fan following and revenue, earning him millions of playback streams and a spot on Billboard’s Uncharted List of Undiscovered and Upcoming Artists. The second single, “90210,” included a feature from G-Eazy—blackbear made an appearance in his 2014 track, “Remember You.”
