[Verse 1]
I never thought about you
You never thought about us
Yeah, it came out of the blue
And I was just dreaming
It took a night of insane
To feel the need for your touch
And I could never explain
How I was just dreaming

[Pre-Chorus]
Ooh, ooh-ooh
Never guess what came after
Ooh, ooh-ooh
I fell

[Chorus]
Automatically in love
Right away, baby, it's a real rollercoaster
When the wind goes the other way
But you and me, right away, baby
We were automatically in love (In love)
Right away, right away, baby
Just a girl undercover and a boy with the getaway
You and me, right away, baby
We were automatically in love (In love)

[Verse 2]
It's not the fear that you trust
It's not the voice in your head
We got the chemical rush
And now we're just dreaming
And we could wait for the proof
A little time to adjust
But every morning with you
I wake up just dreaming

[Pre-Chorus]
Ooh, ooh-ooh
Never guess what came after
Ooh, ooh-ooh
I fell

[Chorus]
Automatically in love
Right away, baby, it's a real rollercoaster
When the wind goes the other way
But you and me, right away, baby
We were automatically in love (In love)
Right away, right away, baby
Just a girl undercover and a boy with the getaway
You and me, right away, baby
We were automatically in love (In love)

[Post-Chorus]
In love, in love
Mmm, la-da-da-da-da, da-da

[Bridge]
Love's so fast, I can't go slow
Hold me back, baby boy, oh, hold me close
Love's so real, I can't go slow
Can't imagine, right away, I feel it so

[Chorus]
Automatically in love
Right away, baby, it's a real rollercoaster
When the wind goes the other way
But you and me, right away, baby
We were automatically in love (In love)
Right away, right away, baby
Just a girl undercover and a boy with the getaway
You and me, right away, baby
We were automatically in love (In love)

[Outro]
Mmm, mmm
Hmm, hmm
Automatically

Carly Rae Jepsen

Carly Rae Jepsen is a Canadian singer and songwriter. Born in 1985, she first came to fame by finishing in third place on the TV show Canadian Idol. Shortly afterwards, she released her debut album, Tug Of War, including the Canadian top 40 singles “Tug Of War” and “Bucket.”

Three years later, she released the single “Call Me Maybe” and planned to follow it with what would have been her second album, Curiosity. However, after the song caught the ear of fellow Canadian, Justin Bieber, he referred her to his manager, Scooter Braun, which led to her signing an international deal with Interscope Records. Before long, it became one of 2012’s most enduring hits, racking up over a billion YouTube views and topping the charts in 21 countries, including the US and Canada. The aforementioned Curiosity album was cut down to EP length, and work continued on her eventual sophomore LP, Kiss. Released in September 2012, it also featured the Owl City collaboration “Good Time”, which reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Jepsen returned in March 2015 with “I Really Like You,” the lead single from her third studio album. The song received a more muted reception than her breakout hit–although it did reach #2 in the United Kingdom–and consequently, the album, E•MO•TION, failed to make a substantial impact chartwise. Despite this, the album drew in a new wave of fans with its more experimental and mature sound; such was the amount of praise among both the public and critics that a follow-up EP of album outtakes–E•MO• Side B–was released on the album’s first anniversary.
