[Verse 1]
We put everything away
California wasn't made for you
Hate the traffic in LA
I drove through it all to get to you

[Pre-Chorus]
Took a million miles to feel the final separation
Don't you tell me now you know what you need
I need to find a love to love me with no hesitation
Don't you tell me now you're ready for me

[Chorus]
My baby, my baby
You always got the right words at the wrong time
This time, it's heartbreaking
You always got the right words at the wrong time
For me, for me
You always got the right words at the wrong time
For me, for me
You always got the right words at the wrong

[Verse 2]
I don't wanna see your face
I'm afraid I couldn't wait for you
I'm afraid that I would break
Only want me when I'm leaving you

[Pre-Chorus]
Took a million miles to feel the final separation
Don't you tell me now you know what you need
I need to find a love to love me with no hesitation
Don't you tell me now you're ready for me

[Chorus]
My baby, my baby
You always got the right words at the wrong time
This time, it's heartbreaking
You always got the right words at the wrong time
For me, for me
You always got the right words at the wrong time
For me, for me
You always got the right words at the wrong time

[Bridge]
Baby boy, you've always got the right words
But you always say them at the wrong time
(It's getting late, I gotta say now)
Baby boy, you've always got the right words
(That you should go, yeah, you should go home)
But you always say them at the wrong time
(It's getting late)

[Chorus]
My baby (It's getting late)
My baby (And you should go, and you should go)
You always got the right words at the wrong time
(It's getting late)
This time, it's heartbreaking (It's getting late now)
(And you should go, and you should go)
You always got the right words at the wrong time
(And you should go, you should go)
For me, for me
(And you should go, you should go)
You always got the right words at the wrong time
(And you should go, you should go)
For me, for me
('Cause) You always got the right words at the wrong time

Carly Rae Jepsen

Carly Rae Jepsen is a Canadian singer and songwriter. Born in 1985, she first came to fame by finishing in third place on the TV show Canadian Idol. Shortly afterwards, she released her debut album, Tug Of War, including the Canadian top 40 singles “Tug Of War” and “Bucket.”

Three years later, she released the single “Call Me Maybe” and planned to follow it with what would have been her second album, Curiosity. However, after the song caught the ear of fellow Canadian, Justin Bieber, he referred her to his manager, Scooter Braun, which led to her signing an international deal with Interscope Records. Before long, it became one of 2012’s most enduring hits, racking up over a billion YouTube views and topping the charts in 21 countries, including the US and Canada. The aforementioned Curiosity album was cut down to EP length, and work continued on her eventual sophomore LP, Kiss. Released in September 2012, it also featured the Owl City collaboration “Good Time”, which reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Jepsen returned in March 2015 with “I Really Like You,” the lead single from her third studio album. The song received a more muted reception than her breakout hit–although it did reach #2 in the United Kingdom–and consequently, the album, E•MO•TION, failed to make a substantial impact chartwise. Despite this, the album drew in a new wave of fans with its more experimental and mature sound; such was the amount of praise among both the public and critics that a follow-up EP of album outtakes–E•MO• Side B–was released on the album’s first anniversary.
