(Joan Jett/Desmond Child)

Here I am before you this is what I am
Tell me what you're thinking tell me where I stand, stand with you

I got a ring on my finger for every broken heart
I got a line in a song for every time I was torn apart
I got a past like a book but I'll turn the page for you tonight

And if it takes all night I will be with you
Till we get it right I will see it through
The fire burns and it would be a sin
To let our passion turn to ashes in the wind

Here I am before you this is all I've got
I'm waiting for an answer well I just gotta talk talk to you

I got a bracelet on my wrist for everytime my heart was bound
I got a chain around my neck for everytime somebody tried to tie me down
I gotta leave tomorrow morning tonight is all we got alone

And if it takes all night I will be with you
Till we get it right I will see it through
The fire burns and it would be a sin
To let our passion turn to ashes in the wind
Ashes in the wind

Here I am before you
Is this what you want well?
Does this feeling scare you
In your mind you run
Run from me

Though it looks like I got treasure but it's my life I wear to town
Cuz this heavy load ain't silver it's your love that weights me down

And if it takes all night I will be with you
Till we get it right I will see it through
The fire burns and it would be a sin
To let our passion turn to ashes in the wind

And if it takes all night I will be with you
Till we get it right I will see it through
The fire burns and it would be a sin
To let our passion turn to ashes in the wind
Ashes in the wind
Ashes in the wind

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts

After splitting with The Runaways, and releasing her first solo album, Joan Jett placed an ad in LA Weekly looking for bandmates. Gary Ryan, Eric Ambel, and Danny “Furious” O'Brien joined her, creating the orginial Blackhearts lineup.

After their initial tour though, O'Brien was replaced with Lee Crystal.

Early on, keeping the band afloat was not easy. Joan and producer Kenny Laguna struggled, sometimes selling copies of albums from the trunk of his car. Eventually unable to keep up with the demand for Joan Jett’s album, they signed with Boardwalk Records.
