I watch your conversations flow
The ins and outs
In the end it goes to show
That I'm right to doubt

’Cause I know (I know) I know (I know) I know
I know what I know

You tell me things don't work that way
That I'm so wrong
The narcissistic things you say
I think they don’t belong

Now I know (I know) I know (I know) I know
I know what I know

I see your tricks
That you can't fix
You're in denial

Now intuition is my guide
So you've got no hope
And now you swear you'd never lie
Like I'm some dope

Now I know (I know) I know (I know) I know
I know what I know
I know (I know) I know (I know) I know
I know what I know
I know what I know

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts

After splitting with The Runaways, and releasing her first solo album, Joan Jett placed an ad in LA Weekly looking for bandmates. Gary Ryan, Eric Ambel, and Danny “Furious” O'Brien joined her, creating the orginial Blackhearts lineup.

After their initial tour though, O'Brien was replaced with Lee Crystal.

Early on, keeping the band afloat was not easy. Joan and producer Kenny Laguna struggled, sometimes selling copies of albums from the trunk of his car. Eventually unable to keep up with the demand for Joan Jett’s album, they signed with Boardwalk Records.
