Songwriter: Abstract

[Chorus: Joey Burbs]
I've been movin' on 'cause I know it was wrong but
Something keeps on pullin' me back
Devil on my doorstep, ask if I need more, yeah
Tell him what was left in the past
All these lies I tell my mind
Just to keep a spark alive (Just to keep a spark alive)
Even though the moment's gone, I let it linger on

[Verse 1: Joey Burbs]
How did feelin' your body turn into feelings that probably
Aren't gonna film me 'til I'm in a new scene? (New scene)
You're the white picket fence that I see in all of my dreams
But now that gates are closing quickly on me
She said we got problems but I know that we can make it work
You can dress me up and wear me out just like your favorite shirt
Everyone around us thinks the sun is settin' in the east
But I just watched her eyes with my own eyes and see it differently
Darling, tell me, when do these emotions fade?
Darling, tell me, are they meant to always stay?

[Chorus: Joey Burbs]
I've been movin' on 'cause I know it was wrong but
Something keeps on pullin' me back
Devil on my doorstep, ask if I need more, yeah
Tell him what was left in the past
All these lies I tell my mind
Just to keep a spark alive (Just to keep a spark alive)
Even though the moment's gone, I let it linger on

[Post-Chorus: Joey Burbs]
Linger on, mmm
Linger on, mmm

[Verse 2: Abstract]
You play your love like casinos
I need that fix like a needle
Even though it's toxic, I'm addicted to the pain
You got this way with the way that you bring me down to my lowest
And give me somethin' just to keep me in your game
I play my cards, you own the house
No clock, no doors, I can't get out
It's like a weekend out in Vegas turned to prison, I found out
That you addicted to the friction
You create the works of fiction
Keepin' fools like me addicted
Sickness in your heart, no doubt
But I gotta go take control of what I tend to value
Love myself enough to live without you
Lingered on as long as I could take it
Broke the spell, I'm breakin' out your Matrix
Young, well-off, and I'm famous
Quick way up how they paint us
What's the real motive? It get dangerous
Messin' with the sexy, young, and brainless
Damn

[Chorus: Joey Burbs]
I've been movin' on 'cause I know it was wrong but
Something keeps on pullin' me back
Devil on my doorstep, ask if I need more, yeah
Tell him what was left in the past
All these lies I tell my mind
Just to keep a spark alive (Just to keep a spark alive)
Even though the moment's gone, I let it linger on

[Post-Chorus: Joey Burbs]
Linger on, mmm
Linger on, mmm

Abstract

Growing up in New Jersey, Luke Terkovich, otherwise known as Abstract, was involved with music at an early age. Learning how to play piano, electric guitar, and the drums were Luke’s first involvement with music — and he did it all before 6th grade. With a move across country from New Jersey to Jackson, Wyoming, the distance between learning and playing new instruments got larger. It wasn’t until several years later that Luke began to mess around with freestyling during his high school years spent at Jackson Hole High. Evolving his newly found musical expression into Raised in Jackson, WY, Abstract is known for his immense musical versatility and affinity for providing uplifting music for a turbulent world. With a knack for storytelling, he provides introspective motivation to all who take the time to dive into his work. Notably known for his remix of Ruth Bs Lost Boy “Neverland” which has garnered hundreds of millions of plays on YouTube, his work with Drumma Battalion and Roze, and his 2016 album Something to Write Home About. He heads a collective known as “A Team Worldwide” 5 musicians from 4 different countries. Producers Drumma Battalion of Norway, Blulake of Sweden, Cryo Music of Scotland, and Abstract. Coming off his first overseas tour with YONAS, the ATWW collective is gearing up to drop Abstracts new album/experience late summer 2018.writing detailed lyrics, he began to find that he could vent the stresses of his everyday life through creating music. Slowly progressing through the years of his new town where he calls home; balancing school, life, and music developed Luke to become Abstract.

Trying to find his sound was a young teenager who just looked to get something written down and then translated into music, and eventually rap. Still in his caterpillar stage of metamorphosis was a young Abstract who released his first ever collection of songs, properly named The Dream.

In 2012, through YouTube, Abstract met Craig McAllister, a producer from Glasgow, Scotland. During that period, Abstract was in the midst of working on On My Own Time and was the first time Craig showed up with Abstract. Afterwards, the duo started to mesh extremely well and produced the five projects, Under Lights & Microscopes, A Life To Live By, Dreaming With Eyes Open, The Science Of Feeling Tall, and We Are The Artist.
