[Dialogue: Abstract & Ms. Watson]
You spoke of fires earlier in the exercise
Can you elaborate on what that meant?
Some destruction you caused that at the time built you up
Yeah, but that wasn't referencing physical destruction though
Over the years, I've realized I didn't always use my voice for good
I've learned since that sometimes words can cut deeper than... anything

[Verse 1: Abstract]
I was young, set ablaze
I would flicker with the flames
I was rowin' over bridges, wasn't worried 'bout the rain
I was holdin' onto grudges
Was the jury and the judge
And when it came to the verdict, my sentences never budged
I got a lot I ain't proud of but I got zero regrets
Had to take a view back to really look at my steps
They tried to get on my case, I saw it all in the stairs
So I slid down the railing and got the hell out of there
You know a piece of my story? You barely opened the book
You got a glance of the cover and think you know what it took
I wrote these verses in blood, my DNA in my art
So if you feel it, you feelin' me, 'cause it's straight from the heart
Not many can say the same
Got a lot out here playin' games
Push people a narrative but you're lost in the fame
You preach about how to cope
But you're still lost in the flames
I'm one to use what I wrote to make me better today
I really preach what I practice, I really sell who I am
Ask my team, ask my family—ask any one of my fans
I just hate to see people who ain't the people they say
You're what's wrong with the industry you been claimin' to hate

[Chorus: Jonny Koch & Aspen Dawn]
We were young, we were wild
Just a fire with no cause
Just a light in the dark with a purpose unknown
Took some time to ourself when I finally tamed you, reachin'
Now you fire me up, you're the reason I glow

[Post-Chorus: Jonny Koch & Aspen Dawn]
You're my fire
Nowadays we're bringin' light
To the darkest places
I remember feelin' lost, now we lead the way
Nowadays we're bringin' light
To the empty sky with a serenade
To the darkest places

[Verse 2: Abstract]
I turned that fire to light, I gave that light to the world
I gave that light to my fans, I gave that light to my girl
I cultivated my happiness, grew it straight from the dirt
I stopped takin' appraisals, started creatin' my worth
Didn't listen to nobody, word to RoZe, that's how I rose
I got sick of basic people, told 'em, "Yo, I gotta go"
"I can't live like this forever, there's someone I gotta be"
Destiny got better for me and I just can't wait and see
So I set my sights where the grass look green
Saw a smile in the water but it looked like me
So moved in my reflection, the person that I could be
Stopped runnin' off of revenge and taught myself to be free
I'm the one they couldn't stop, I'm the product of my dreams
I'm the one who made it through
When they brought me to my knees
Here to pass the message down like they passed it down to me
If it set your soul on fire, then you gotta let it breathe

[Chorus: Jonny Koch & Aspen Dawn]
We were young, we were wild
Just a fire with no cause
Just a light in the dark with a purpose unknown
Took some time to ourself when I finally tamed you, reachin'
Now you fire me up, you're the reason I glow

[Post-Chorus: Jonny Koch & Aspen Dawn]
You're my fire
Nowadays we're bringin' light
To the darkest places
I remember feelin' lost, now we lead the way
Nowadays we're bringin' light
To the empty sky with a serenade
To the darkest places

[Outro: Jonny Koch & Aspen Dawn]
Light
Nowadays we're bringin' light
To the darkest places
I remember feelin' lost now we lead the way
Nowadays we're bringin' light
To the empty sky with a serenade
To the darkest places

Abstract

Growing up in New Jersey, Luke Terkovich, otherwise known as Abstract, was involved with music at an early age. Learning how to play piano, electric guitar, and the drums were Luke’s first involvement with music — and he did it all before 6th grade. With a move across country from New Jersey to Jackson, Wyoming, the distance between learning and playing new instruments got larger. It wasn’t until several years later that Luke began to mess around with freestyling during his high school years spent at Jackson Hole High. Evolving his newly found musical expression into Raised in Jackson, WY, Abstract is known for his immense musical versatility and affinity for providing uplifting music for a turbulent world. With a knack for storytelling, he provides introspective motivation to all who take the time to dive into his work. Notably known for his remix of Ruth Bs Lost Boy “Neverland” which has garnered hundreds of millions of plays on YouTube, his work with Drumma Battalion and Roze, and his 2016 album Something to Write Home About. He heads a collective known as “A Team Worldwide” 5 musicians from 4 different countries. Producers Drumma Battalion of Norway, Blulake of Sweden, Cryo Music of Scotland, and Abstract. Coming off his first overseas tour with YONAS, the ATWW collective is gearing up to drop Abstracts new album/experience late summer 2018.writing detailed lyrics, he began to find that he could vent the stresses of his everyday life through creating music. Slowly progressing through the years of his new town where he calls home; balancing school, life, and music developed Luke to become Abstract.

Trying to find his sound was a young teenager who just looked to get something written down and then translated into music, and eventually rap. Still in his caterpillar stage of metamorphosis was a young Abstract who released his first ever collection of songs, properly named The Dream.

In 2012, through YouTube, Abstract met Craig McAllister, a producer from Glasgow, Scotland. During that period, Abstract was in the midst of working on On My Own Time and was the first time Craig showed up with Abstract. Afterwards, the duo started to mesh extremely well and produced the five projects, Under Lights & Microscopes, A Life To Live By, Dreaming With Eyes Open, The Science Of Feeling Tall, and We Are The Artist.
