Songwriter: Abstract

Producer: Cryo Music

[Intro: Abstract]
Let me out, yeah
Let me out, yeah
Let me out, yeah

[Dialogue: Ms. Watson]
Can you elaborate on a personal connection to love?

[Chorus: Abstract]
These sober nights
When we dim down the lights
You and I made a home
Know you changed my whole life
Threw a match to my plans
Put your heart in my hands
And when I gave mine to you
You turned me into a better man

[Verse 1: Abstract]
With you I know I can take it anywhere
I can't stand your beauty, pullin’ up a chair
Let me stack this money then we outta here
Europe for the summer, I could take you there
Spend my time on you, but you know time is money
I do this all for you—no, they can't take it from me
I do this for the crew, that's my brothers overseas
For my sister, mother, father, to my family in the East
No, I see these rappers lost, everybody sound the same
No, y’all ain't ever leadin' 'less it's leadin' us astray
I stopped drinkin', started thinkin'
Gotta be a better way
Speakin’ through the universe with everything I say
No, y’all don't love no more, no
Y’all don't feel a thing, y'all
Hopped up on some Xans, only way that y'all can sing
Yo, who the hell is talkin’? Is it y'all or just the darkness?
That the drugs inside you author?
I been sober with my ink

[Chorus: Abstract]
These sober nights
When we dim down the lights
You and I made our own
Know you changed my whole life
Threw a match through open flames
Put your heart in my hands
And when I gave mine to you
You turned me into a better man

[Verse 2: Abstract]
You my light—my brightest star
I wished for you back when everything was dark
Keep me in orbit despite the gravity
Of the black hole that was born inside of me
Keep me on course through the mission I was given
Reason that I'm livin' biggest since the fission of my birth
You know I was supposed to die, but I'm thriving on this Earth
Must have been a reason why, who knew all that I was worth?
So I'ma make a change 'til my time's up (my time's up)
Staring at the range, I'ma climb up (I'ma climb up)
Show you our mistakes don't define us (mistakes don't define us)
On the sunny side's where you'll find us (you'll find us)
Used to paint with pain
On a different plane
I don't feel no shame
I learned how to change
But I had to get there through the flames
Don't compare no names
You can rest assured we ain't the same
Wanna be me, you can try
But your story isn't mine

[Chorus: Abstract]
These sober nights
When we dim down the lights
You and I made our own
Know you changed my whole life
Threw a match through open flames
Put your heart in my hands
And when I gave mine to you
You turned me into a better man

Abstract

Growing up in New Jersey, Luke Terkovich, otherwise known as Abstract, was involved with music at an early age. Learning how to play piano, electric guitar, and the drums were Luke’s first involvement with music — and he did it all before 6th grade. With a move across country from New Jersey to Jackson, Wyoming, the distance between learning and playing new instruments got larger. It wasn’t until several years later that Luke began to mess around with freestyling during his high school years spent at Jackson Hole High. Evolving his newly found musical expression into Raised in Jackson, WY, Abstract is known for his immense musical versatility and affinity for providing uplifting music for a turbulent world. With a knack for storytelling, he provides introspective motivation to all who take the time to dive into his work. Notably known for his remix of Ruth Bs Lost Boy “Neverland” which has garnered hundreds of millions of plays on YouTube, his work with Drumma Battalion and Roze, and his 2016 album Something to Write Home About. He heads a collective known as “A Team Worldwide” 5 musicians from 4 different countries. Producers Drumma Battalion of Norway, Blulake of Sweden, Cryo Music of Scotland, and Abstract. Coming off his first overseas tour with YONAS, the ATWW collective is gearing up to drop Abstracts new album/experience late summer 2018.writing detailed lyrics, he began to find that he could vent the stresses of his everyday life through creating music. Slowly progressing through the years of his new town where he calls home; balancing school, life, and music developed Luke to become Abstract.

Trying to find his sound was a young teenager who just looked to get something written down and then translated into music, and eventually rap. Still in his caterpillar stage of metamorphosis was a young Abstract who released his first ever collection of songs, properly named The Dream.

In 2012, through YouTube, Abstract met Craig McAllister, a producer from Glasgow, Scotland. During that period, Abstract was in the midst of working on On My Own Time and was the first time Craig showed up with Abstract. Afterwards, the duo started to mesh extremely well and produced the five projects, Under Lights & Microscopes, A Life To Live By, Dreaming With Eyes Open, The Science Of Feeling Tall, and We Are The Artist.
