[Verse 1]
You ask me why it won't work out
Why somebody in my heart is somethin' that I won't allow
Why I can't trust love but give this shit a chance
'Cause I've done the start, middle, and the finish of the dance
I've seen the good times, and they ain't really worth the bad
Heard all of they lies that coulda been saved by the facts
Gave all that I had and wasn't givin' it all back
You should know better than that, 'cause that's the reason that I rap

[Chorus]
'Cause all I've ever known
Is love leads to me being alone
Heart locked, you can try to break in
Just to guarantee that you can never break it
Yeah, tell me I'm all you need
Yeah, please, tell me that we're meant to be
I seen the story of a heartbreak
Next day, you say, "You really mean nothing to me"

[Verse 2]
'Cause I could give you every second
Every compliment, girl, I guarantee I meant it
We could talk forever, talk like it couldn't get better
Talk about our lives and talk how long we know that we'll be together
'Cause right now it's all new, so true
Yesterday was gray as ever, now our skies are looking blue
Thinking you gotta be the one, 'cause shit like this don't come in twos
To ever think it might fall short, but really right now what's the use?
Feeling to right to ever-ever go wrong
They say love's a drug, but ain't no one on what we on
Reality even better than dreams, we up to the dawn
They say we gotta chill out, we too busy doin' what we want
Slow down, smell the roses
Beauty is the thing that knows us
Our love is somethin' we see to be more lovely than rosebush
But this the thing that grows us
The thing we overdoses
We forget inside the beauty is the thorns of the roses

[Chorus]
'Cause all I've ever known
Is love leads to me being alone
Heart locked, you can try to break in
Just to guarantee that you can never break it
Yeah, tell me I'm all you need
Yeah, please, tell me that we're meant to be
I seen the story of a heartbreak
Next day, you say, "You really mean nothing to me"

[Verse 3]
Waking up today, what the hell is this shit?
What happened to yesterday? Gotta say, I miss it
Every compliment I give, girl, you only flip it
To make it all so negative, why the hell you trippin'?
I ain't bein' different, you're just tryna be the victim
I'm tryna make it better, girl, but you won't even listen
How we gonna get around if you won't even talk about it?
'Bout to be so over it, 'cause honestly I've really had it
Oh, so you wanna go back to the old days?
It isn't our fault, it's like you want to block the sunrays
Used to be a two-lane, you're making it a one-way
Keep it up, I'll take off and turn it to a runway
And I ain't playing, I know you'll do it too
But you ain't even tryna to make it work, I actually wanted to
Only after the fact are there people who notice
Sometimes we lose the beauty in the thorns of the roses

[Chorus]
'Cause all I've ever known
Is love leads to me being alone
Heart locked, you can try to break in
Just to guarantee that you can never break it
Yeah, tell me I'm all you need
Yeah, please, tell me that we're meant to be
I seen the story of a heartbreak
Next day, you say, "You really mean nothing to me"
'Cause all I've ever known
Is love leads to me being alone
Heart locked, you can try to break in
Just to guarantee that you can never break it
Yeah, tell me I'm all you need
Yeah, please, tell me that we're meant to be
I seen the story of a heartbreak
Next day, you say, "You really mean nothing to me"

Abstract

Growing up in New Jersey, Luke Terkovich, otherwise known as Abstract, was involved with music at an early age. Learning how to play piano, electric guitar, and the drums were Luke’s first involvement with music — and he did it all before 6th grade. With a move across country from New Jersey to Jackson, Wyoming, the distance between learning and playing new instruments got larger. It wasn’t until several years later that Luke began to mess around with freestyling during his high school years spent at Jackson Hole High. Evolving his newly found musical expression into Raised in Jackson, WY, Abstract is known for his immense musical versatility and affinity for providing uplifting music for a turbulent world. With a knack for storytelling, he provides introspective motivation to all who take the time to dive into his work. Notably known for his remix of Ruth Bs Lost Boy “Neverland” which has garnered hundreds of millions of plays on YouTube, his work with Drumma Battalion and Roze, and his 2016 album Something to Write Home About. He heads a collective known as “A Team Worldwide” 5 musicians from 4 different countries. Producers Drumma Battalion of Norway, Blulake of Sweden, Cryo Music of Scotland, and Abstract. Coming off his first overseas tour with YONAS, the ATWW collective is gearing up to drop Abstracts new album/experience late summer 2018.writing detailed lyrics, he began to find that he could vent the stresses of his everyday life through creating music. Slowly progressing through the years of his new town where he calls home; balancing school, life, and music developed Luke to become Abstract.

Trying to find his sound was a young teenager who just looked to get something written down and then translated into music, and eventually rap. Still in his caterpillar stage of metamorphosis was a young Abstract who released his first ever collection of songs, properly named The Dream.

In 2012, through YouTube, Abstract met Craig McAllister, a producer from Glasgow, Scotland. During that period, Abstract was in the midst of working on On My Own Time and was the first time Craig showed up with Abstract. Afterwards, the duo started to mesh extremely well and produced the five projects, Under Lights & Microscopes, A Life To Live By, Dreaming With Eyes Open, The Science Of Feeling Tall, and We Are The Artist.
